I was out watering my plants etc and was pleasantly surprised this morning. One of my Hostas has a tall shoot coming out of it and has several flowers that look like Lilies on it. I've never had any of my Hostas flower. This is the newest plant I put in last month. Must be a different breed of Hostas. Its very pretty.
I don't know what specimen of Hosta that is Angelbear but I had one of those back home too....they are beautiful. Mine bloomed a lavender color. I had it in a whiskey barrel container and within a few years, it had multiplied and filled the whole barrel. I love Hosta's...you are lucky to have some....the heat and humidity here is just too hard on them and I don't have enough shade.
I have several Hostas that I planted all at the same time. Some of them flowered and some didn't. I'm not sure why either! They are really pretty when they do! We just moved 3 HUGE Hostas In our new flower garden. All 3 are different types. None of these flowered last yr. so I doubt if they do since we moved them.
One of my favorite hostas has plain green leaves but sends of shoots of white flowers that smell heavenly. The name of it is Hosta Plantaginea. I have some hostas with fancier leaves that bloom with purple flowers and some that never bloom, but Hosta Plantaginea (aka-Funkia Plantain Lily) is at the top of the list for me.
