It's Time to cut those Branches

Was out this morning and cut my branches for forcing into bloom. I cut lilacs, forsythia, flowering almond, purple plum, and cherry. the lilacs and the purple plum are new to me this year so will see if they can be forced. I also cut a few vines of wisteria to see what happens with them too. So if you want to try and force some flowering branches into bloom and your tempts are 40 and above now is the time to do it. The instruction for how is in the post called "Well spring is coming" Lets us know how it goes if you try to do this. Would also like to know what kind of branches you are trying. Have fun ladies and Happy forcing.
Dilly
PS for those who have cats I found some catnip starting to grow. The cats are resting after their treat.

Thats funny you posted this today. I thought about doing something outside to exercise my burned out brain. LOL! I will make myself do some of  mine. Do you grow catnip?? If so wouldn't it created a issue for neighborhood cats coming around? Or is it grown inside?

Angelbear:  The catnip grows wild around here. All through the yard the neighbors yards the park it's everywhere here. I have some catmint in the herb garden but it must be different the cats don't seem to care for it. Haven't had problems with the cats in the neighborhood yet. Hope you get lots of cut branches.

Well ladies just to let you know. The branches I cut two weeks ago are starting to show their colors. So I bought them from the dark basement into the light. They are all showing some kind of growth or bloom on them. The pinks and yellows look so happy and full of spring.

Penny the lilacs are showing some bloom on them. The white one anyway and the French lilac looks like they are ready to pop. Hope you tried them. Now lets see if we can get that fantastic smell the produce too.
Looking at spring in my house!

Sounds great Dilly.  I'm not much of a gardener but I bought a couple of little castus' at a sale a couple weeks ago (not the regular thorny looking ones).  Just wanted something new and positive in my home and can't spend too much money right now.  I would also like something with flowers though to help reach out for spring so I might pick up an African Violet or two or something similiar as there is nothing like flowers in the home.  Sounds wonderful about your branches, sure does help cheer us up at this time of year.  Enjoy them and thanks for your inspiration.   I just might get out there and get some seeds and see what happens.  It would also be good for dd as she loves to watch things grow.  Laureen
