Our family joke was always that I travel with an Invisible Monkey...when the grandkids weren't looking I would set a hanging light fixture swinging just a bit or move something when they weren't looking and they'd want to know what happened...I always told them the invisible monkey did it!  So, we lost our precious little Annabella 3 years ago.  The other kids stayed home from the funeral because they were not much more than babies themselves although Lulu, the oldest one at 3 years old, understood that her little sister had passed away. At the end of the funeral everyone was gone but my daughter (her mother) and me.  We were standing up there saying our good byes.  My dd asked me if I was alright and I said yes I was just putting the invisible monkey in with the the baby so she wouldn't be lonesome.  We both smiled a little through our tears.  She and I were the only ones that knew about that conversation. When we got home Lulu was playing on the floor with some crayons.  I said...hey!  What's that invisible monkey been up to while we were gone?  She looked at me and said, Nana, you know that monkey went to heaven with AnnaBella today!"  I looked at my dd and all the blood had drained out of her face.  I asked her WHAT?  She says..."Well, AnnaBella has that monkey now...it's not here anymore!"   And those kids, who talked about that stupid monkey all the time,  have never mentioned it again.....

My grandpa from down south told this story often, On his way home from work him and some co-workers were traveling on some curvey mountain roads. Out one side of the mountain was a women holding a baby walk across the road and went into the the other side of the mountain. When my grandpa got home his daughter was dead and so was her baby. Ggrandpa said it was her way of saying good bye.

Okay first  true story:

My mother passed away in June of 1989. She was reading a book by JA Jance I had just finished reading and passed on to her.  She had been in and out of the hospital for years and we did not know she was going to die this time.  The day before she died, she commented to me that the books by Jance had kept her going while she was dealing with cancer. She would get so involved with them she would forget some of the pain of the chemo, etc.  She also told me that author would be one she would really enjoy meeting some time.

About 6 months later I was at a Women's convention and saw JA Jance was going to give a little talk in one of the little curtained areas.  I asked my g/f Sandi if she minded sitting in and listening. She had never heard of or read Jance, but she said sure.  We sat down in a little chaired area at the back.  All of the sudden I had a feeling Jance was sitting behind me and I turned around and she was. Then she went up to the podium and spoke about writing and her mystery characters for about 45 mins or so. At the end she asked if anyone had any questions and a few people did and asked.  I wanted to talk with her but didn't and didn't tell Sandi that I wanted to make contact with Jance. Anyway Jance said she would be signing her new book and selling copies at another location at the convention immediately following her little talk.

So Sandi and I proceeded to walk around looking at different booths.  At the back of mind I still wanted to talk to Jance, a very strong want!  Each time we passed her area she had a long long line of fans waiting to talk with her and buy books, so we would go do something else. Finally we went passed and she had noone in line and just had a lady next to her who was taking the money for her books and I said to Sandi, "why don't we buy her book"? So Sandi fine.  So I walked up to Jance and started to tell her yes, I loved her books, but I had something to tell her about my Mom. Well, she grabbed my hand and turned a very white color and yelled to her husband who was sitting across from her area, "Bill, come over here right now, this is the women who was going to talk to me about her Mom!" Well, I jumped about a foot, and asked her how she knew and she asked me if I was going to tell her about how my Mother was reading her book in the hospital when she died?  I said "yes, and she always hoped to meet you"! And Bill said, "your Mom just died from cancer, right?" and I said "yes, and she said your wife helped her to deal with her cancer and the pain!"  And all the time Jance was holding onto my hand!  She told me someone at a book signing had told her that I was going to speak with her about this! (and I never told anyone I was going to talk to Judy about this!) Anyway by this time, I was crying, dropping my purse, keys, etc and my g/f Sandi was in shock lol!  Also there was a huge line up of people behind me know witnessing this little drama!

Anyway, Judy (JA) and I have remained in touch over the years and I still enjoy her books, but still think we had "strange, unexplained" connection.

I have other stories, but this was one of the most dramatic......

My brother who lived with me passed away 12/24/2002 He always told me if he could come back he would. He does in my dreams. The first time he came in my dreams he was standing between the kitchen and dinning room leaning on the door frame picking at dryed skin on his hand. I asked him what are you doing here? He said do you have any of my clothes here? I said no. Why? He said he lets you come back for a change of clothes. I don't want to wear a suit for ever. I am not going back without a change of clothes. Then I woke up.
I will leave it up to you did he come back or was it a just a dream.
Hugs Geri

Geri, I believe he came back to you. I heard that when you dream of them that it is their way of coming to you so you know they are still with you. So I truly believe that. I hope that comforts you. Hugs

Shortly after my father died, I looked in the mirror and saw his face looking at me from my face.
Of course I do  resemble him but it was very startling. Different than just the resemblance... and eerie.

One time after my mother died, I clearly heard her call  "Joan".
It was odd and so real

Well I thought about this and remembered something that happened a long time ago.

Back in the late 1960's I was involved with Scientology in the NYC organization.

Leaving the building at 5 pm rush hour I decided to take a cab to my husbands office to meet him as we had an appointment that night in the city. I got in the cab and about 2 blocks drive I realized I dropped my wallet. I had taken it out of my purse and held it next to my body on top of my purse clutching both and dropped it as I got into the cab. I told the driver and of course I had to get out of the cab and walk the rest of the way.

While I was walking I pictured the crowd I was in before jumping into the cab and I mentally searched faces as trying to figure out who would pick up my wallet.

I focused on a man wearing a dark jacket , white shirt and tie. I saw him bend down and pick it up and thought he looks like he would return it to me. He looked like he had a job and with a tie and jacket most probably a decent job where he wouldn't need the money in the wallet.

There was $60 and personal stuff...and SenSen in my purse...(SenSen was a breath cleaner type tiny square of powerful licorice)  lol...business cards etc etc.

When I got to my husbands office he said a man had called and told him he found my wallet and Jim said we would pick it up later that night as the man would be working late. I told my husband the story about me choosing who would pick it up and I described what he would be wearing..

That night Jim waited in the car and I went up to see the man and there he was but he was wearing a white shirt, tie and no jacket.

I thanked him and offered a reward which he refused so I gave him a piece of my art that I had with me. It was a stipple drawing of an apple tree.

He thanked me and said he loved it and as I turned around to leave I saw his dark jacket hanging on a coat rack. I was tempted to tell the man the story but thought twice about doing that... lolol

Scientology has many mind altering excersizes and I spent the day doing that and I think that's why I was very open to seeing the event in my mind.

What an amazing story, Sheila!
Interesting.
I remember the little square almost flat red boxes of sen sen and the tiny strong licorice squares.
