We have enough members on here that have Grandchildren that I thought I would ask these questions. Do you remember the very moment you were told you were going to be a Grandma? What was it like for you? Did you run out and go shopping or wait for the little bundle to arrive? |

yes I remember. My ds and his (at the time) gf (later wife, now exwife) took me to breakfast and aired the news. I was excited but at the same time I was scared for my ds. Their relationship had been rocky for 2 years, she had cheated and they had just recently got back together. So my feelings were mixed. But I was there in the at the ultrasound that proved lil Zoey was his (weeks gestation) and also there in the delivery room when she was born. To see my son hold his child for the first time with tears in his eyes is a moment I will never forget! Yes I went shopping soon after I was told and bought the lil one an Angel's jacket. We are all big fans! |

Jacki- We'd accept a made up story if you want to add one. LOL!! Robyn- That is a nice memory. I'm sorry about the outcome but I know from what you tell us your son is a good Dad. So with her gift she became the "littlest angel." |

My oldest & his wife told me. I went out buying yarn to start knitting. I had patterns. I made a a couple blankets. Did the same with the 2 gs. I bought things later on when I knew it was a girl. I still like to get her girly things. |

When my DD was pregnant, I was short on money so I offered to create and send out the birth announcement for her. I sent her about 6 different announcements to choose from and when we finally settled on one particular one and how we wanted it worded, I had to wait until my grandson was born so that I could fill in the final information. During that waiting time, I would work on the envelops for the announcements and set them aside. Never did I expect her to send out 77 announcements |

dd & sil gave me a little gift - I opened it up, and in it was the 'positive' ept & a little figurine labeled 'Grandma'. I got to be in the delivery room with #1 and the three that followed - I remember each one so clearly! The oldest is now 8, and the youngest just turned 4. dd & sil say they are done... I can't wait for ds & dil to bless me with more... :-) whoopi |

As soon as the stick turned blue, Elisaba called me. I can't remember if we knew Parker was a girl before she was borne. I started sewing and buying immediately. We flew to AZ when she was borne and arrived when she was just hours old. Elisaba wanted me to stay with her for 6 weeks but I left after a week. She had it all together. sharyn |

I've got kids Jacki but I've been told grandkids aren't in the scheme of things for a long time yet.
Who knows where they will be and for that matter us old doddery folk. I mean we could be sailing the ocean blue. |

My oldest turns 28 this month so the memories have faded somewhat. I do remember wondering how I would feel being called Grandma, as I felt young and not at all grandmotherly. I first saw her at age 4 months. My daughter arrived from Kansas by plane carrying a naked, shivering little bundle in a canvas sling.. My mother and I quickly bundled her in our coats. My daughter saiddidn't have any clothes for her aftter she wet. . My heart melted when I saw her. Love at first sight. When I was first called grandma, it was OK with me. I loved it! |
