This is an interesting article about how DBS was used to help restore awareness in a man that was minimally conscious for the last 6 years.  It is amazing to me to read about all the different things that DBS is being used for today;  especially considering that I had to get special approval less than 2 years ago for my surgery

Wouldn't our ancestors just be in awe of the medical advances we have now....and like Joan said.....wonder what further advances will come in the next hundred years....
