I would ask your Dr again what he wants. I bet he's talking about using small hand weights to build muscle. |

you need to take Vit D to help absorb the calcium.... have your Dr check your levels of Vit D .... you need to have a count of 40 or more to help absorb the calcium |

I'm already taking calcium plus D now. My doc said that weight resistance exercises will help strengthen my bones. Small hand weights will work, I just need to find some kind of routine to follow to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. I spent a lot of time surfing the web yesterday and found a couple so far that look like they might be decent. Thanks for the input, girls! |

As for the walking exercise,if you have a mall nearby, that's a good climate controlled place to do it.A lot of ppl here take that route. No mad dogs,no mad creeps. |

LOL, Abs! I suggest walking, too. I hate exercise, but if I have to, walking is IT. Maybe you could carry a small weight in each hand while walking? |

After making myself cross-eyed, I finally choose a DVD to send for. It's specifically targeted for people over 50 (no problem there) who need to get fit. They offer several different dvds choices, depending on what you want to work on. I ordered the one for toning. From what I get out of the description, they show you how to develop strength using small hand weights. It's only costing me $20, so I figure it's worth a try. P.S. Yes, you may laugh if I end up dropping one of the weights on my foot and break a bone that I'm trying to salvage! |
