I sent her copies of all the posts under the thread on her last week. Angelbear and all the Divas, Hello and thanks so much for the well wishes and prayers, you are all so very sweet and so thoughtful too. I go for my pre-op on 7/3, surgery 7/7. I got a very nice surprise today....my two cousins will be coming for my surgery....One is an R.N., so I know I will get wonderful home care! They will be here from Sunday til Thursday of that week....Then the second week my brother and his wife will be coming to help out too...I have a few dr. appts and I am not sure when I will be able to drive....All my friends work, as does Mike and my mom doesn't, so I will have lots of help and this way my mom doesn't have to do it all during the days. My dr. told me to expect to be off work for up to two weeks. I also found out that I have to stay at the hospital for 23 hours after my surgery....I have never been in the hospital before...I have had my tubes tied and my biopsy...but that was at a surgery center and I went home within a few hours....so I am a bit scared of this...I am a bit scared of alot of things but I will get thru it all....and again, I was so happy to hear from you all, it made my day....thanks to Angelbear for forwarding everything to me from all of you..... Please take care, and remember......do a self breast exam every month!! Lucy

Lucy, stay strong, keep positive, keep a sense of humor and most importantly keep the faith. Will be sending continuous prayers. If you or your family have questions, be sure to write them down so that they can remember what questions they wanted to ask and have the surgeon, your physician and nurses answer them for you. I remember doing the same thing and oh what a wonderful piece of advice it was. Will a pathologist be present in the OR? You are allowed to request one if your surgeon hasn't advised you of one being present already. Read up on PR/ER diagnosis if you can before your surgery. A good website to go to is www.whyme.com It is a national breast cancer site. Not one of those filled with hocus pocus info. They link with the American Cancer Society and WebMD. If you ever need someone to talk to after all of this, I am here for you. I'm doing good, although my breast cancer is stage IV metatastic (inflammatory) I am still plugging away 3yrs later. Don't let it beat you. You are still You after the surgery. You are still a child of God. You can going punching and come out kicking and keep on dancing as if there is no tomorrow. Even though we think we have a devastating diagnosis, believe me, I know others that have worse health diagnosis. God be with you and your family. Be not afraid to share your thoughts and feelings and if you cannot find someone to listen. Journal every thought, happy or sad. Count at least 3 blessings each day and you will find more than you were looking for. Laugh loud, hearty and long. Laughter is one of God's best medicines. Your Diva Sister and fellow breast cancer fighter, Doe |
