Reposted from email for Lucy.........

Hi!!  Just wanted to keep you and the Divas posted as to my next phase!!  I went to see my radiation and oncology doctors this week.  Well for sure I will have radiation and now I will also have to have chemo.  First comes the chemo., when I am thru with that I will have my radiation.

I will have to have 4-6 treatments of chemo.  Once every 3 weeks, so probably by the end of October I will be done.  (Not sure if I will have to have all six the dr. said) I will lose my hair, the dr. said 2-3 wks. after my first treatment.  I think that will be the worst part of this all.  I work in a school and I will probably be bald by the time school starts, Aug. 18th.  I need to go shopping for some scarves and probably a wig too...oh what fun!!!!  NOT!!

I also have to take steroids the day before, day of and day after my chemo. the side effects are lots of energy, may be hard to sleep and I may be chatty!!!  Just what I need, lol...

I still  haven't been released by my surgeon, I go Monday to see her, I haven't worked or driven at all, so I am anxious for both....NO fun staying home when you can't do anything!!

My breast and arm are healing, but boy does it hurt, I still can't stretch my arm up all the way.  My underarm is what is most painful.  I have about a 3 inch or so incision, when I sit or sleep I use a pillow under it so that helps a bit.  I am also doing exercises the dr. gave me, so we shall see.  It's just so wierd, my underarm is completely numb.  How it can be numb and still hurt is beyond me, LOL....oh well in time this too shall pass!!

I am going a bit stir crazy at home, but my brother has been my chauffeur this week and I do go to my mom's at nite for coffee and dessert after dinner....so I do have a bit of a change of scenery!!  It's no fun when you can't do anything!!!!!!

I also have to have a PET scan on Monday, then I will be ready for Chemo.  OH....my sister has been in Vermont since April, well she is coming home on 7/27, for one week, she has some business to take care of so she will be with me for my 1st chemo treatment, I am so happy about that!!  Then she and my mom will fly to Vermont together, my mom will stay with her for 1 week, then return back alone, which I am sure she will be fine.  I have it all set up with the airline, so they will take good care of her ( I hope she doesn't end up in Omaha, LOL )

Well I have told you all I know for now, I just hope I won't be the one that is very nauseous, they have come a long way they say with that.  And they do give you stuff with the chemo and I will have pills to take, just praying I can tolerate this and go thru is smoothly!!!

Have a great weekend and take care.

 Lucy

I will be thinking of you.  I hope the chemo is not too horrible for you.

The steroids made me "Chatty Cathy" and I even went 72.5 hrs with out sleeping before I was able to crash and burn.

Remember the T-shirt turbins.  If you need instructions again, I will be happy to give them to you.  Very simple and much more comfortable than the wigs!  My hair started falling out on the 14th day and so I called my neice, a beautician, and a bunch of friends and the next day, I gave myself a "Shave my Head Party!"  I had wonderful friends that match my warped sense of humor.  They brought me hats, styrofoam wigs, newspaper hats and washable colored markers.

I had a dble mastectomy.  Stage IV inflammatory metatastic breast cancer.  I have phantom "nipple itching" and when my underarms itch, I scratch, but I can't stop the itching.  Bizarre.

Lucy, I may have missed it in past posts, but I don't know if you ever said what type of breast cancer you have?   ER/PR?  Stage?  Just curious.  Do you know what your 1st round of chemo will be?  Adriamyacin/Cytoxin, maybe?  The anti-nausea pills worked great for me.  The steroids bugged me, greatly.  Do you know whether or not you will be taking the Neulasta shots?  I'll do my best to answer any questions you might have to ask from a fellow "SURVIVOR".  You are a SURVIVOR from the 1st day you are diagnosed.

Prayers of Hope and Health!    Doe
