Hello My Friends... I lost my big brother last weekend... he was 59... Chuck's death was somewhat sudden but not totally unexpected. He was diagnosed with Lung Cancer about 6 weeks ago... he smoked a lot... he drank a lot... but he was well loved and had many friends... Wednesday was a celebration of his life more than anything else... all of us got together... friends from High School and work days and all the relatives we could find... the event was catered by his dear friends from Baha Bean and there was wine and beer along with lots of food... we drank a toast to the full life he led and how much he meant to us all... his wife and son assured everyone that Chuck was smiling down on us and so glad that somehow we had all managed to have this time together to remember him. I will always remember the big brother that picked on me unmercifully at times but watched over me as well... It has been a difficult time for me for a number of reasons.... not the least of which is that I was the one that was basically elected to tell our younger brother what was going on... he had not been made aware of the illness because Chuck did not want to see him. I wanted to thank you all for requesting tags and liking them so much... it is such a wonderful diversion for me.... Babs... |

Babs, How sad...and shocking, too. Only six weeks from diagnosis to his death? Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. I have lost three brothers. It is difficult to have your family dwindle. |

I'm so sorry about your loss, Babs .It sounds like you had an Irish wake.I think those are really wonderful; to celebrate the life of the loved one, not to just mourn the death. Here's a toast to your brother & to his life w. the ppl he loves |

Thanks to all of you for your very kind words, thoughts and prayers... I am doing well... just very tired and somewhat restless as well... Guess it is just all the memories of our younger years... Chuck and I were not close when we were kids, in fact we often disliked each other intensely... but as we grew older he figured out little sisters were people too and we became very good friends... I will miss him very much... but know that he is out of pain and with our parents and friends who have gone before... all is well. Thank you again my friends... Babs... |
