As you probably have noticed I don't let "meter cheating" on Divas. Its against MSN rules and also a waste of space. Please remember anytime you post a siggie or emoticon, text needs to be with it. A siggie or emoticon alone is considered meter cheating.

I was wondering what you meant. I know about gas & electric meters but not on the puter.

I had absolutely no idea that there was such a thing as meter cheating.  I will definately keep this in mind when I want to write a short post.   Celeste

This icon here is a meter. When someone joins a group through MSN under their browser most groups have this little meter. It lets you know how many members you have. Some groups strive for numbers meaning the more the members the higher the meter goes. Every post made helps the meter rise. They also ask you to vote for their board and the thread becomes repeticious of the same word or same siggie, etc. Some games that have no substance to it and require you to copy/paste a siggie is meter cheating. It can be by the same person sending the same post over and over or the members all doing it. The changing baskets is a meter cheater by posting the same siggie daily. Its where things are placed in the thread and copy/pasted over and over again and have no text with it. Text is the key to meter cheating. All posts must have text in it separate from posting a siggie. So use your siggies just leave a note along with it. Many groups do this to get their board moving and the meter jumping higher.  Divas is good about this. Sometimes I forget to and only post a siggie. I run a different type of board and could careless about numbers, how many members I have, etc.
Any more questions?

I didn't realize that there was such a thing........most of the time when I leave just a siggie it's because of my hours and I don't have time to write anything.  But I guess those days are gone...

When a manager forms a new group its hard to get new members. By posting stupid posts over and over, repetitious, siggies, etc it starts up their meter. The meter doesn't show for a group until you have at least 400 posts so that is why many begin what is known as meter cheater. A meter shows your group out there faster. MSN starts to take notice when someone has thousands of posts in one thread and they do check them out. Thats why some boards get caught and removed. A few here and there they will not take notice to and Divas board is fine. I only posted the topic incase someone didn't know what it was. So don't worry if you forget here and there, no biggie.

Well......I'm probably more guilty than most on here.  I didn't realize that it was wrong to do it.  I mostly post siggies or emoticons by themselves when I can't think of words to say it better.

I will try to do better.
