Good Evening, Ladies-
I'm Lindush- 56, married 31 years, mother of a 28 year old recently married daughter. I was brought up on Long Island and haved lived in Greenwich Village (NYC) since 1970. I am a sales rep for an educational publisher, but started my career as a clothing designer for a shop that catered to rock bands and "hippies" in the late 60s and early & 70s. I then was an asst manager for Fred Leighton Ltd ( the jewelry folks) and got into retailing. From there to distribution, then to millinery buyer, then to the job I have now.
As an advocation, I design and make precious and semi-precious jewelry that is sold at juried art/craft shows, galleries and boutiques. I still sew (everything from formal gowns ( I've even made suits and a tuxedo) to upholstery) do needlework & paint/illustrate. I cook well but my baking is horrible.
I'm very active in my church ( president of the council/congregation) and helped create the charter school my daughter attended. Odd interests for the girl who didn't "fit in " in suburban Long Island (LOL) I'm still a little odd to some people- one of the reasons I moved to NYC.
I like experiencing both new and old favorite restaurants here in NYC, the theater ( OFF Broadway vs. Broadway) galleries and museums and seeing my friends perform in theater, cabaret, concert, and clubs.... especially because I have NO talent whatsoever . We have a 9 yr old american shorthair cat and a bunch of fish in a 31/2 room, 5th floor walk up apt.
My husband had been the manager of a club/restaurant, and later a contraactor specializing in renovation and restoration of pre-revolutionary residences. He retired early due to ill health and I now have a house-husband. Good thing, because I hate picking up after myself... and I always have a lot of projects going.
And that, as they say, is that. Thanks for your warm welcome... I look forward to getting to know you all.
