cc you sound like you are my kind of girl when I'm in camp there is no mixes to be found dang it sure would love a box of kraft dinner now and then heck I'd even settle for hamburger helper any flavour! This dirty rice sounds real interesting I'm going to have to search out a recipe for that and try it out on the boys. They love bbq as much as I do its a good thing I work at a gas plant all the free propane I can use and I use the bbq quite a bit not too much lately kinda cold out there when its 40 below takes forever to cook a steak! My plaque at home reads: I made my favorite thing for dinner a reservation. |

Wendy, You definitely lead an interesting life. How many people do you have to cook for at the camp? I could not decide whether it was 2 four man crews of 24 man crews! I know what you mean about horses running you instead of you running the horses. Many years ago I had a few standardbred horses and they paced me to a lot more than I paced them. adair |

good morning adair thank you for your post. I cook for a 4 man crew, 2 different crews, each crew is in for one week at a time.If I was cooking for 24 men I would not have the time to spend talking to you ladies, I"d be working my butt off! I have cooked for larger crews, 75 loggers, 24 oil riggers, now that is work let me tell you I never want to do that again. I had 2 second cooks to help me with the 75 and 1 second cook with the 24, but still the work load was great for all of us.How far are you from Lake Taho adair? I was down there a few years back good horse country in Nevada beautiful mountains , trees and the lake itself very beautiful, we did the boat ride with the glass bottom and of course hit the casinos. I liked it better than Vegas much slower pace and the food was just as good. You are a cowgirl! Yeah !once a cowgirl always a cowgirl. My little mare Macy is ready to foal talked to my husband last night she's baggin up pretty good this is her second foal she lost her first one Leo's watchin her real close this time we brought her in keep an eye on her I'm hopin she'll hold off until I get home which is 4 days away one can only hope for the best.talk to you later, have a great day bandy |

I love reading your posts. You have a lifestyle that the rest of us don't. I can just picture this sweet woman standing around the campfire with the men waiting with their hands held out with a empty plate. LOL! I know you work inside with a nice kitchen though..Please share any recipes you want with us. Let us know when Macy has her little one. |

good morning Trish thank you for the welcome I'm still chuckling over your post you sent in yesterday I am feeling for you though your state is getting hit hard again with another winter blast. Its tough, there is no doubt about it.My grandmother was born and raised in Wisconsin about 90 miles east of Chigaco, she never missed a green bay packers game once . I flew over your state a few years back, landing in the O'hare airport it was in the day time I remember, they sure have a lot of swimming pools in that city. How much more winter are you expecting?Up north here we're looking at 6 weeks down home in Greenwood probably 3, hubby says its melting already.Guess we've got the mud to look forward to now. Yipee! |

Good morning, Bandy. We're practically neighbors. I live in Idaho which borders BC. However, I'm in the southeast corner, so we're not real close neighbors. Our weather has been very cold and snowy this winter. We have had a bit of thawing lately, but everything is still snow-covered. We've got more snow forecast for the weekend. I don't expect to see any Spring weather before April. |

Bandy I am new to all this also. I just recently joined this group and I am looking forward to it. I live in Northern Minnesota about 2 hours south of the Canadian border and we get cold temps close to yours. This past winer we spent weeks at -30 below with wind chills colder then that. You sort of get use to it but it gets old quick. Stay warm, spring is supposedly here! Tammy |
