I received a Sympathy card from my Vet today. I was really touched by this. I love the Vet clinic we use and this card said alot to me as well. The staff and Drs. all signed it. Has this ever happened to you? I didn't know if this was normal for a Vet to do or not. |

What a nice thing for them to do. I have a private vet usually comes to the house so the times ive lost one of my animals or had one put to sleep he was here and personally gave his condolences . Its a one vet practice . |

I think that was a very nice gesture from your veternarian and his staff. I have not heard of any doing that out in this area. |

Yes....our vet does this. I think it's a very kind thing. And also very appropriate....since our family has probably put one of his kids through college....lol. I like and trust my vet a lot....I wish I could go to him myself...he's more compassionate than a lot of MD's I've been around. |

That's So Sweet! I've never had to put a pet down(thankfully). But if I had to I hope our Vet is that humane to our feelings too. |

Yes when I had to have my beloved Roxador put down the vet and her first assist came to the house. They were very compassionate. Like you, AngelBear, I was very surprised when a sympathy card showed up in the mail a few days later. Penny I think as a rule vets are much more compassionate than physicians. I would like to have my vet teach the docs I work with how to have her bedside (or in my case table side) manners! |

That had to touch your heart Angelbear....it did mine just reading it. One of my dogs had to be put down years ago and I received a card...I still have it in my memory book. I agree with others...I wish Doctors today had the same compassion that the vets do. |

I received a sympathy card for my last two kitties that had to be put to sleep. I also got a letter that the vet had made a donation to an animal society (I forget what it was) in my kitties names. I thought that was really wonderful. Karen |

I have a friend that has so many pets that it's like a zoo in her house. Her vets always send cards when one of her pets die. |

I received one from my regular vet when I had to put my dog down years ago. But when I put my Rottie down last Sept, it was at the all night emergency vet and they didn't send a card (I didn't know them) But they were so supportive and caring when I was there with him, gave me all the time I needed to be with him before and after the shot since he laid on my lap. This is one of the reasons I have started school for Vet Tech. I am tired of working with doctors, nurses and paper pushers who don't remember the human element. I would rather work with animals and it seems the docs and techs who work with them are more compassionate |

I don't have pets, but the dentist we go to has always sent Christmas cards and whenever we have a biggish procedure done, one of the practice nurses always does a follow up call |
