Maggie is having a false baby syndrome ...I think. She has this little toy that she walks around the house with and will set it down and just howl at it. It took us one night to figure out that if we cuddle it she will lay down and go to sleep. If not she prowls around the room with it howling and moving it from one hiding place to the next. What is happening and why? She did this before....it lasted about two weeks and then stopped as suddenly as it began? I have tried to google it with no help. Any suggestions???? I am a Granny to a LATEX TOY!!!! any help will be appreciated, Karen |

How about buying it some stryofoam peanuts and powdered milk? lol....sorry, I couldn't resist! Aren't animals stange sometimes? We had a burro (yes a burro) that would go through false pregnancy about every 2 or 3 years.....she would swell, get milk, etc.....and then it would just pass....strangest thing you ever saw. Well, I guess that wasn't any help was it? lol TRose |

it sounds like a hormonal thing to me.........is she fixed? sometimes that helps and sometimes it doesn't. You just have to ride it out with her................enjoy the new grandbaby! |

Is Maggie fixed? This is all I could find that describes what you are talking about. You will have to look down each one to read about Maggie's "litter" Hope this will help some |

I had a sweetie Doberman years ago and she had false pregnancies, just like clock work. She would go in heat, then a gestation (sp?) period then she would "give birth" to a little squeekie toy. Her breasts would produce milk, she'd carry this little toy around, worry about it and after a period of time her milk would dry up and she'd "wean" the toy and ignore it until several months later the whole cycle would start all over. I think if Maggie is "fixed" she may need hormones. For sure she's got a baby. Yes, you are Granny to a latex toy? |

As a dog rescuer and self made trainer: Yes, dogs do go thru exactly as us humans can do. They have exactly the same parts as us and hormones are right in there as well. They go thru PMS, they go thru menapause, they don't lack in any of us DIVA blahhh's. Solution? Spay, she will be done with this type of situation. Think of yourself, how would you feel if you didn't have to go thru periods, pms, emotional rollercoasters, it would be heaven. She is a MaMa wannabe. Take her out of this phycological mysery. Please spay her. |
