Last night late evening I noticed a Collie running around that I had never seen around us. Today I saw him again. It is so cold out and I was worried about him being out, maybe since last night. We got him and brought him in so we could see his collar and tags. We called the number on it and they came and got their dog. He had been missing for two days and lived three streets over. I was so glad to reunite them. I just hate it when I am outside and see a stray dog or cat, espeically in this weather. |

It's a good thing the Collie had tags so you could call his persons. It's especially sad sometimes to see lost dogs because some of them just run and run trying to find home and won't stop. You can just tell they're in a panic. |

For some reason lost pets have always found themselves to me and I've always had the knack of finding their homes. On particular time stands out, about 12 years ago this little terrier/mix was standing under my bedroom window howling in the rain. Well it broke my heart and I went out and got him, dired him off but alas although there was a collar there were no tags. Instead of taking him to the animal shelter right away I took his photo and placed an add in two of the local papers. I knew he had been taken care of, he didn't act scared, he didn't look starved, his coat was clean and not matted, somoene was obviously missing this little guy (I hoped). A week later I got a frantic phone call. Wanting to know where I lived and how I found the dog. I explained and the woman on the other end was totally amazed. Turned out the dog was owned by this woman's mother had lived in the neighborhood behind us but had been placed into a nursing home because of her health. The daughter had adopted the dog but the dog had gotten out of the yard and ran away after being in her home only a couple of weeks. The amazing part was that the woman lived over 100 miles from where I found the dog under my window! Obviously the little guy was going home...but there was no one home for him. |

Colleen- Oh dear, what a happy and sad story. I have heard of this several times over the years with people I have known. The dog gets homesick and returns tot the home they know. Its so amazing they can do this. I am so glad you helped them out. T-Rose- I agree..time to get the kleenix out..... |

As a child the bible was required reading in my home. One thing that always impressed me in Genesis is that God created the animals before God created humans. To me, that means that God created people in order to care for the precious gifts of the animal kingdom God created. Sadly we, as humans have slipped a bit but hopefully there are enough of us who want to take care of those we share this planet with. |
