Would you argue with a police officer if you know you're right? |

My son was coming down our street to visit us last evening and was doing 35 in a 25 mile zone. He saw the flashing police lights but continued till he got to our driveway. By then they had called for backup and we ended up with three police cars at our home. They felt there might be a problem since he did not stop right away. He also screeched his tires into our driveway. My dh and I were sitting out back with our neighbors when we heard the screech and saw lights flashing. We got out front in time to hear our son arguing with the police officers. They also accused him of drinking because "he smelled like it." I went up to my son and asked him to blow air at me and I only got bad breath and detected lots of cologne on him. They obviously misstook his cologne for alcohol. They said they would let it go since he ws home! I told the police my son had not been drinking and it was strong cologne he was detecting. He told me he had been an officer for 15 years and the three of them said it was alcohol. I told him I was this mans mother for 22 years and I know he had not been drinking that night for sure. JJ tried to push the point and the Police kept saying you don't want to push the issue, I am not sightng you for this since you are home. JJ was furious they would not test him to prove he had not been drinking. He started arguing again. I finally walked over to JJ and put my arms around him telling him to let it go. When I did that the officer left. JJ was falsely accused last night and we know this for sure. He was furious he was accused of something he did not do and wanted to prove it. I was afraid at that point the cop would falsify the breath test possibly because he was a hot head. |

I would state my case but I wouldn't argue with him. He has too much power to write a citation if he felt like it. JJ was lucky . I can understand his anger at being falsly accused but he was speeding so in that case I would leave well enough alone. |

Not a chance in H.... that i would argue with cops. Back in the day I used to party with them. Ones I knew liked the power and some really shouldn't have had guns. Scary to think about now. |

Must be us New Yorkers, Jacki-'cause I get the same way every Halloween when the parade prevents me from crossing the street to get home- or when they're shooting a movie and tell me I can't walk down my own block.... |

I sort of did. It was a young cop trying to be smart. I was stopped for not having a front liscense plate. I was at the stop sign when he got in front of me waving his hands. I didn't hit him. Told him other states only have one plate. The older cop sat in the car smiling. I said I would go home & fix it. I had that wolf plate on til I sold my car last Nov. The kid tried to get me to change at 57 yrs. |
