Someone once told me you can use frozen bananas to make banana bread.  Has anyone tried this and if so, do you need to defrost the bananas first?

I know you can freeze them to use but not sure if you need to defrost them first Id defrost in Micro for a few minutes then add to recipe ~ that way  they won't be too wet

DIL and I both do this. I use bananas that have been mashed and then frozen in a container. She leaves her banans whole and in the peel, freezes and then uses as needed. However we both let them soften before adding to recipe. No need to try to drain off extra water, just use as is, so to speak.

I freeze mine whole and in the skin.  When I get ready to use them I unpeel them (frozen) and put them in a bowl to defrost completely.  After they come to room temperature I mash them and use them as usual.  There is no difference to the texture or anything in the finished product.  TRose

Thanks for the info.  I've got several bananas in the freezer and am planning on making some banana bread this weekend.
