I'm so bored I could scream!!!! Sometimes I wonder if this retiremen is all that it is cracked up to be! I have thought of getting a part time job just to have something to do. I have thought of doing some voulenter (sorry about the spelling) work, but I live so far out in the country, spending the money for gas is just crazy right now. I guess I just need a few nice days, and my golf clubs out of storage. Thanks for listening. |

I don't think I could ever retire! I have to have a reason for each day! I'd be bored stiff, and probably 6 feet under sooner than I'd like to be......but a day off would be nice! lol |

Ok, you're making me nervous. I'm planning on retiring within the next 3-4 years and my biggest fear has been having nothing to doall day. I love my teaching job but know that it's going to be time to move on. As it is now, I cannot sit still and watch TV (unless it's Idol, Boston Legal or Grey's Anatomy). Perhaps it's just nervous energy, but I feel like I need to have purpose. |

I thought about it. I just can't imagine having nothing to do. I hope I can start doing my hobbies when I stop working. |

I know aht you mean about living so far out in the country....that makes it definitely a problem. I am retired also and I find the computer/Internet connection to be my best friend for boredom I spend a lot of my time doing genealogy and it is amazing how quickly time flies when you are working on something that you enjoy. |

When my husband retired I quit my job so we could build this house and be together. I've had a job since I was 14 and at this point in my life (after some adjustment) I must say I love it that my time is my own. I might feel differently if my dh weren't such a great companion but he is and so I am a pretty happy camper. If I get bored there is always my computer, books, woods to walk in, etc. And don't forget the damn forever laundry. |

I think aaaahadair and anitarae have the right idea. The computer esp the internet has loads of programmes to pursue, not just groups. If you have Open University it may be another thing to pursue, it used to be on TV but now I believe it's on the puter. Often money is a problem when one retires, because of the rising prices of just about everything, so Joan one needs to think of FREE entertainment. |

Quite right, kiwi. Other than gas, the ones I mentioned are free. So are all kinds of interesting classes at the local adult school. |

Joan- I think it s a wonderful idea to see something new each week. Alot of places have free or discounted fees on certain days to go to many things as well. state parks LightHouses Beaches Landmarks Lakes Historic buildings |
