I believe I told you this part before. Earlier in the year I drove my SUV through a carwash then heard a loud sound. When I got out and looked at my vehichle it had a cracked taillight.  I spoke to the place then, etc...they can't be held responsible.

I went to update my license tags in Missouri and had to go though inspection which I failed. I failed because of the taillight.  I asked him what the safety issue was with my taillight and he said condensation could get inside it. Whatever! lol!  bs!!  So for a three inch crack where the bulb is not exposed to anyone I have to repair it or they won't renew my tags. So they got me.  Buick said I would have to replace the entire taillight, not just the cover and the charge was $650. NOT! Another shop told me $375. I told dh and he got on the internet and found a used one that looks like new and it will cost us $50. YES!  LOL!  I can't believe how they want to rip you off. I don't understand why when all that is cracked is the red covering in a tiny corner that we can't replace the red cover instead of the entire light assembly.

Oh darn!   I thought this was going to be the first contribution to "Hotcakes"

It sure does pay to get several estimates. I think  a lot of car repair shops take advantage of the public.

What a rip off!  It's a good thing Steve found you that taillight online. Poor Wanda. Here lately, if you didn't have bad luck, you would have NO luck at all!

You can always save money going to a salvage yard.Better than getting SKINNED by a repair shop.

I know what you mean!  It is hard, sometimes, to find good honest mechanics that don't charge an arm and a leg!  TRose

Since I wrote this dh found a better solution. He found out that automotive stores sell a repair kit for tail lights and special glue for it as well. He cut and covered the broken red covering and fixed it. I went to the inspection office this morning and it passed. The guy lauughed and said it passed and that what we did was very creative. LOL! So ladies if your vehichles gets a crack you can repair it cheap with the kit for $15.00. We will replace the light eventually but this way it gave me time and allowed me to get my updated licene tags finally.
