Hi Diva's well this week is the big Melbourne Cup Day : On Tuesday is our Melbourne Cup Day it is the biggest horse race in Australia. The nation stops for the race and its a day where the ladies can get into their finery I for one will be having a flutter even thou it will do me no good. There is a lot of international horses being brought over but i have to stay with old Bart Cummings horses. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also in the news here are the Bali Bombers who are awaiting execution at any moment It amazes me how it has taken so long to get to this point. I cant imagine the hell people who are affected by this have coped and not being able to have closure all these yrs. Min |

Min ... I've never been to a horse race, I'd love to go and bet on a few. Of course, I've no horse sense -- so I'd probably choose from their names or appearance. If you get any pic's will you post some for us, wanna-bes ... The justice system is so slow -- those to be executed can be in the system for twenty years or better ------- doesn't make any sense to me. Bandy ... I love reading your posts too, you seem to ask the most interessting questions. Where abouts in Canada do you live -- love to visit there too from my computer chair. Karen |

Yes its the Horse Race that stops the Nation. Most everyone gets to hear it or see it, whether it be at the track, home, party or in the workplace. I remember at Catholic Primary school we always listened to the race. I have been once with work it was fantastic day, I worked in the Officers Mess and went on the bus from Geelong. We had nine International horses come downunder this year to race in the Melbourne Cup but two of them have been scratched through injury. I am sure there is a horse from the US as well. Will get the paper and let you know. Some of the Fashions are very nice but some outrageous as well. I will go for no 10. Clare xxx |

When I was in Christchurch (New Zealand) last week, there was quite a bit of hype there too. Mum said the parish she belongs to have a Cup day too with a phantom call. Great fun. Mine will be a quiet one. My friend Pat has stayed over and when she awakes we will go and place a bet or 2. Then watch it later on the television and hope we chose the winner lol |

I too backed Moatize but didn't even look at Bart's other horse, so sadly I didn't make my fortune lol Thank goodness the rain held off but it was a cool wind. Gee Bandy fancy being able to get into our papers. I guess we do the same lol My DH is a keen follower of the political race, because ultimately who ever gets into the White House:- this country will be affected as well. I love the armchair travel we have in this site. Saki I think is only Japan's drink, but maybe India has it too. The picture of bareback elephant riding is hilarious. |

Yes ladies all these posts are most interesting. What animals do you have Bandy? Sounds beautiful place where you live. I am on the South Coast of Victoria Aus, only a short walk from the Ocean. But it is the same old same old you forget what beauty you have in your own back yard and dont appreciate it. I am sure a walk on the Beach every day would do me the world of good blow away the cobwebs. I picked no 10 because of Footballer, and no 12 because one of our ex Cricketers Simon O'Donnell has an interest in it. Unfortunately did not get to TAB to put my money on oh well not meant to have money it seems lol. Would have come in handy for Christmas. I lived on a Dairy Farm when I was younger so love Cattle. I have two Black and White Cats, my team Footy Collingwood is Black and White lol. I follow Philadephia Eagles because one of our ex players Sav Rocca is their punter. Clare oz |

Hi Lynne, . Good to see you stop by for a drink. Demara's are a breed of sheep that are self shedders they have hair not wool. They are better as i used to have merino's and it was a pain to have to try and book shearers so these are more expensive but i dont need shearers. And they are good around my grandchildren they are very gentle. My grandy's are city kids so they love coming to the country its an experience for them to go feed the sheep. Trish |

My 3 lads all having different achievements, and the weather isn't too hot (Yet) I don't have any animals, but hey Min yours sound very interesting. Is the hair the same consistency as wool, and what do you do with it when it is shed? |
