While posting on another message board a member asked me if I could help him read his chart as he has been experiencing anxiety also.I asked him if for the birth details and whether it would be ok to ask some astrologers to help.
here is his birth chart with the information he gave me:

first thing I looked at was the 3rd house cusp being aries, then looked to mars to see that it was in conjunction to mercury which was square to his moon in libra, so the moon deposits to mars and is also square to the mercury/mars conjunction, also this conjunction is in libra's house (7th) so there is an emphasis on libra,7th house here. this also at odds with neptune in the 1st house.funny how neptune pops up with anxiety, like in my chart aswell. another thing i noticed was jupiter in the 3rd,overthinking things perhaps? was wondering if anyone else offer some opinions?

cheers,
paul.

With this new chart : Sun (Air) Moon (Air) and Venus conj. ALGOL;
Saturn & Uranus both in SAG in the 12th house; makes for erraticness or anxiety, probably, (Uranian)....in the house of karma

AC & MC makes for a serious natured person; and as you noted, Neptune, even in Cap, conj. the AC, would suggest with it's squares, and oppositions (even to Mars).....playing a role here as well, but I would think for different (karmic ) reasons, not just biology or the gene pool.

Sun in the "maximum 15th degree of intensity), in Gemini; also opposes Saturn & Uranus, so perhaps he has good reasons for being anxious?  With the oppositions here, perhaps, he is constantly being flooded by unexpected events, and Saturnine woes....karmic ones?

But when we look to the houses, we see Saturn & Uranus firmly entrenched into the 12th house of isolation and karmic debt; even "self-undoing", yet the Sun is in the 5th?
Actually Chiron, (causes him much pain), from whatever he is undergoing, in that 12th house entry.

Must be connected to his love life?
Seems his 7th  house connection says this, as well as the 5th.....

Best for him to revisit these karmic influences, (2nd house NN 8th hs. SN indicates a past life of sexual obsessions.....) and the SN is very tight to the moon this time around.

This is a karmic chart,(not that others are not,as we all are in this pot of soup together,) but as far as the playing out of these various energies, IMO.

Just a quick note -  this unfortunate lad seems to be under a lot of internal pressure. Everything I've come to expect to see in a chart relating to anxiety seems to be here in some form. I'm glad you've been there for him to open up to and offer some guidance. When I see friends suffer from bad bouts of anxiety it honestly seems the worst kind of hell to be in.

Sometimes I see anxiety as a side effect of having an enormous amount of mental energy so it's not surprising that I always see Gemini represented (and to a lesser extent Virgo) in people with anxiety. His sun is in Gemini with Mercury very stressed in that tight T-square with even more mental energy added by tight conj with Mars. Neptune and the Moon into that mix show how his emotional state is affected and with Neptune so close to the Asc coupled with the planets in his 12th house his worries/fears aren't necessarily rational but they are deep rooted.

Capricorn Asc makes Saturn the chart ruler which is opposing his sun from the 12th house, this house placement of Saturn can make a person very fearful and fretful and  makes him prone to depression too, which often links with anxiety through lack of Serotonin.
Venus doesn't seem to have any real positive aspects, perhaps there isn't much in life that gives him pleasure outside of the home (4th house).

8th house Moon - morbid thoughts, worries about death and sex?

Mars-Neptune opp across 1st-7th House - persecution complex.

They say that any mental health problems tend to show in men around their early 20s, (he is 20), I guess that's why it's starting to become a real concern for him now but it isn't something likely to blow over quickly. If he seeks counselling or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy while he is still young and the anxiety hasn't had the chance to set into a rut for him it will help to alleviate the symptoms for him.

Yes that is right Deb, within my chart there is a huge emphasis on mental activity and the mind. 4 of the planets aside from the Moon and Mercury itself are in mind orientated signs also the Sun/ascendant and midheaven. So all these signs are ruled by Mercury then,so we then look at mercury since all these planets in a sense have their energy channeled through mercury.
Also certain houses will be important : 3rd (gemini's natural house) which contains my moon, and also 6th (virgo's natural house) which contains Uranus. Uranus is also at the fated 21st loss degree of Scorpio ,although it is trine to Mercury itself, which probably improves its position. What I usually look at Deb is the depositor chart which shows how the energy gets channeled. This can be found on astro.com >extended chart selection>pullen astrolog> then select 'sign/house depositor graph'.
The one which I find most handy to see the energy at work is the one called 'Sign depositor wheel.' which is in the bottom left.

Here with my depositor chart we can see the energy dosn't end with a final depositor, infact its in a loop through the Sun-Moon-Mercury,this sometimes means I go over things a little before I make a decision, for instance sometimes I react emotionally(Moon) to something I may have read (Mercury) which in turn affects my Ego (Sun).once I then think about this though and become aware of the pattern I then often then react differently.like if I read about something in an email that made me angry I often will go over things before I respond so I don't alienate others.

perhaps, you can help me, I'll post it  here.

I too have a Jupiter at 21Scorpio,in the house of my children.

I was just reading up on some of the brightest fixed stars when I noticed that Capella (21GEM49min.) is known for "anxiety"

He may have this star, on the R/Ascension, or in Parens........or in a Midpoint?

I think you Flashgord, already have your Venus and ASC, "conjunct" by degree, in longitude, so no doubt you may be resonating with Capella's vibration.

Just a thought anyway, IF I run across any more of these stars relating to Anxiety, I'll post them here.

Capella: (21GEM49min.)

"Noted for an association with floods and storms. Generally a fortunate star that suggests a nurturing nature. It has an excellent reputation in matters of learning, studiousness and research. But it is also associated with timidity, nervousness and anxiety.

the only time I ever suffered from anything close to anxiety, I think is in a tunnel.
I always get, what I call "claustophobia" going through highway tunnels, like under water.
One time my daughter Jen recalls, that I got lost and took the wrong exit, (I did this often) and we were in the Harbor Tunnel, so it was too late to turn around.,once you are in that lane, you are stuck with it.

As we paid the ticket and went through, I started to hyperventilate, and told Jen, - who was only 12 at the time, "Jen, if mom passes out,you will need to take the wheel and drive".....or something like that, warning her.

Thankfully nothing happened, but she recalls that explicitly.

I usually just try to do my breathing exercises when this happened, deep breathe, hold it and exhale rapidly through the nose..

It usually helps to calm me.

Deb and Oniero,
thanks for the help and ideas ,msn acting up yest, I wrote out a massive replies and they got wiped

From what I can remember,
he is seeing a therapist and he says that helps alot, discussing things.i will have to ask him about his thoughts on a few things,he mentioned his anxiety was worse when he was meeting a girl he was interested in at work,so it could be through partnerships which is causing a large amount of problems, mars in the 7th seems a tricky position for the red planet?

we often look for energy from others with planets in the 7th ,with mars being here perhaps this could make someone slightly more prone to conflict, although maybe its conflict of another kind, as its conjunction mercury.could be a feeling that others are creating conflict for him, which acts out of balace for his emotional state?

Venus is the final depositor for alot of the planets. aside from Pluto,Sun and Merc.
Venus in taurus is usually a good place for this planet to be,although as you said before debs the later degrees of Taurus are often prone to some problems.

just seen that moon conjunction south node, that has to be important, will have to look into that more...

re:
the 8th house, yea thats a very intense house, fortunatly its towards the cusp of the 9th so this might take the edge of off the intensity a little one hopes? I'll ask whether he has any specific fears or intense thoughts.
I think You could be right on Neptune to Mars, through that house axis ,Sacrifice In one form or another could be a theme? One thing I do know is that this planetary combo can often make for a creative imagination which can get carried away at times, thats a problem I get with my Mars square Neptune.

Deb,
Re:
post up the depositor chart and i'll have a look, maybe start another thread about it?

on the 21st degree, this I think is the main loss degree: 21 degree's scorpio.
the other 21st degrees seem important but this one seems more prominent with loss of some kind.

Yea im notr sure how much of a tight conjuntion is necessary for fixed stars, 1 degree? but 21 degrees gem is right inbetween my asc and venus.

according to ( I think it's Anthony Louis who first coined it)
the 21st degree is a "relative" loss of some sort.........not literal one.

BUT IF, in Scorpio, it becomes, a "Defnite Loss", (not relative to one's circumstances, but a Real Loss..........

oh yeah, also I've been dwelling on the Mars-Mercury conjunction.

I have this in the first house. Apparently this can be indicative of a sharp tongue (guilty as charged, even when I don't mean to). In Vedic terms it can indicate a troublesome sibling (which I can attest to). Since this is in your friend's 7th house I can only assume that rather that him owning this acidic tongue he feels that others are being critical of him.

This aspect is very close to the Asc-Desc axis and with Neptune rising, opposing both, perhaps he worries (maybe with reason) that others are spreading false accusations about him.

Thanks again for the help on this,

Yea I think you are right there Oniero,it definatly has something to do with the 7th house,I also have a conflict going through the same houses, I think this often leads to feelings of me vs the world, especially with mars involved.

I did manage to find some info on south node conjunction moon, I dont really know much about these aspects but here is what I found, quoted from: http://www.lunarliving.org/featured/nodes_of_the_moon.shtml

Moon conjunct South Node: Emotional vulnerability is accented in this person. They may be too protective, overly needy, very susceptible to the emotions of a mother figure or other family members. They may feel lacking in unconditional love. They may fear family, dependency, parenthood, roots or emotional connections. They find more safety and sustenance by establishing strong ties, getting and giving trust to others.
