Mary's Iced Tea
24 Red Rose tea bags
2 1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 gallons cold water
3-4 lemons
1/4 c. Realemon juice
Place tea bags, sugar and water in a large pot. Stir well, place over medium heat. When it comes to a strong boil, turn heat off. Do not boil too long, or it will be too strong. Stir a couple times during cooking, to make sure sugar gets dissolved.
Cut lemons in half, squeeze juice directly into tea, then add the lemon halves. The lemon oil from the rinds will be released by the hot tea. Finally, add the Realemon and allow the tea to cool. Remove tea bags and lemon rinds. Taste to make sure there is enough sugar and lemon flavoring to suit. Serve over lots of ice in tall glasses.
