Hello all. How are you all? I am fine, had a short day with Caity, but had someone here checking out our refridgerators for energy factors and they were here til 2:30. They also gave us some energy saving light bulbs. IT was from the Home Energy Assistance Program. So I said why not? IF our fridge had been bad they would  of given us a new one. Not a bad deal, but my fridge in the house is only 2 years old, and the one in the garage isnt too old either so they were both OK.   After they left I laid down and fell asleep! That is unusual for me, but I was kinda tired!

Marsha - I see the weather channel says that IKE  is maybe headed to Texas, I hope it doesnt get too bad!! Take care.

Skeeter- - HI, hope you all are well!

Pat - - - Glad you are having a good time and didnt get hit too hard with Hanna!  Be careful on your way home!

Well folks, I am getting off the computer and watching a little TV. Have a great night! Kathy

Good morning!  We've been listening to the weather channel this morning, and it looks like Hurricane Ike is going to hit Texas dead on. We're about 6 hours north of Houston. But, as big as this hurricane is - and the way it's supposed to turn - we'll get alot of it. It's supposed to make landfall sometime late Friday night or early Sat. morning. All the weather people are saying that we'll have lots of rain and wind all weekend. The governor has already ordered evacuations on the coast. The people in nursing homes and hospitals were being evacuated last night. We usually do alot of our shopping on Sat., but we were talking and decided that we need to get it done Friday. That way we'll be at home and won't have to go out in the weather. I've got everything we'll need so we're ready for whatever comes our way.

Skeeter - I'll post my spaghetti sauce recipe in just a bit. It always comes out good!

Pat - I was wondering if you got hit with Hannah. I'm glad you're okay. Are you enjoying your vacation? I'm sure you are! Take care on your trip back home.

Kathy - Yup! As you have already read, we're getting ready for this hurricane! You know what's so funny? When I was married to my first husband (he was in the Navy), we lived for 2 years in Gulfport, MS - 3 years in Jacksonville, FL - 2 years in Pensacola, FL. Never once, in all those years did we get hit with a hurricane. Now that I live 300 miles inland, we get hurricanes. LOL!

I'm going to go and get a few things done this morning. I need to make out a shopping list, too. You all have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Hello everyone-- how are you all this evening? I am fine. My day without Caity. I kinda slept in, til 7:30. ( O Boy!) so when I got up I straightened things up around here and did up our morning dishes, then got my shower and went to the store and took some plastic water jugs and milk jugs to the recycle bin.  Got a few more things done when I got home. Not much going on around here today. Guess  we will jsut chill out for the evening  !

Marsha -  I sure hope Ike doesn't get too awful bad for you all. Maybe he will die down some by the time he gets to you.  The Spaghetti sauce sounds  good. I've never used olive oil, but I think I should pick some up, I see all the chefs on the Food Network use it. I need to get some sauce made too. Have a great evening.

Hello to everyone. Take care, Kathy

Good morning!  Everyone is watching Ike. This morning it looks like it's going to hit between Galveston and Houston, then come this way. Of course, it could all change by the time it comes onshore. We'll just have to wait and see. Monica was telling me last night that the nursing home she works at is going to have some people who have been evacuated. Everyone is supposed to work some extra hours this weekend - especially the nurses.

What are you all up to today? Not much here. We've got several bags of cans outside, so we're going to take them up to the recycle center this afternoon. I doubt if they'd blow around, but we don't want to take any chances.

Kathy - Ike will lose alot of his power by the time he gets here, but the weather channel is saying that he could still be a strong tropical storm. We'll just batten down the hatches!
You should use olive oil! It's all I use. It adds a bit of flavor to your food, and also has stuff in it that's good for you - unlike vegetable oil.

I'm going to go and see what kind of trouble I can get into! You all have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Good morning!  We're all ready for Ike. Storms from the outer bands are supposed to start moving in later this afternoon. As soon as the first storm hits, I'll be disconnected until it's all over. We're under any kind of alert you can think of. It won't be a hurricane by the time it gets here, but a strong tropical storm. I've got plenty of batteries, a radio, bottled water and food that doesn't have to be refrigerated. We put extra boxes out on the porch for the kitties, and I covered them with trash bags to keep them dry. We put bricks in them to (hopefully) hold them down. According to the weather channel, the center of the storm is supposed to go right over us. We'll see 45 mph sustained winds, and gusts up over 60. This is supposed to last through Sunday. So, if you don't see me, you'll know why.

Mr Boofuss is acting crazy this morning. Running up and down the hallway, and jumping out to grab my leg. LOL! All the outside kitties are running around, too. So, they know something's coming.

Michael's getting off early today so we can run to the store for those few items that we need, and get settled in for a very long weekend.

I better go and get things done this morning. I'll see you all when I can!
Love and hugs,  Marsha

Hello all. Sorry I wasn't on last night, but I had a long day yesterday. First I had an appointment in downtown Youngstown yesterday morning, then I went for a few groceries, and to Wal-mart. Then Came home and had to go pick up Caity at the sitters, and she would not take a nap for me, she never slept alllllllllll DAY long! So by the time Scott came after her I had a major headache and I think the weather has my bones aching. So I just laid down and fell asleep. As for today , Caity only slept one hour!! But I felt better this morning. I made 2 pumpkin pies, 1 for us and one for Tom! Put chicken and dumplings in the crock pot. By now tho, my bones are hurting again so I think it is the weather. RAin here all day long. I  just took 2 pain pills. So I hope they kick in soon.  What a life ! lol.

Marsha -   I'm worried about you. Is it raining there yet? It has rained all day here. Supposed to rain for the next 3 days. So we will see what happens. Please take care and be safe. I know you are prepared! I have been turning the weather channel on every so often to see whats going on! Doesn't look good!

Hey Gene- See you popped in! Hope you are well.

Well eveyone have a good night, and take care. Hugs ....Kathy

Hi everyone......
Just stopped by for a minute to let you know I have Marsha in my prayers.  I hope the storm wasn't too bad in your area.  Looks as tho the electricity is out all over this morning.  Ed and Gene has seen their share of bad weather, too.  Guess I won't complain when we get the cold winter up here.....at least I don't have to worry about hurricanes!
Chester is in the Erie hospital with phenumonia.  Connie's car is down....brakes smoking...she has my car.  She has her feet operated on this Tue. and will be with me for the next month.
Bud didn't make it to the bathroom in time this morning...just got that cleaned up...this happens a lot here......Seems like I wake up and poof...the day is gone and it's time for bed!!  The only bright spot in my days lately is reading with Nicki.  He has 25 books to read this year, so he and I read every evening for about half hour.
My sister's hubby had his knee replacement surgery...both knees.  He is coming along ok...but her cows and calves got out three times and she has been chasing them back into the fence along with help from her neighbors...but.....her defibulator went off night before last.  It is set so high, her heart must have been VERY bad to have had it go off......her girlfriend took her to the doctor yesterday.  Haven't heard from her as yet today.
Anyhow.....got to go.....

Hello everyone!  We got in last night after a long 2 days of driving.  It felt so good to cross over the Quebec border into Ontario. Here we have all of our road signs (and any others) in English and French.  In Quebec they don't bother with the English at all.  Not knowing what is coming up on the roads and highways makes driving a tad difficult, especially with all the construction going on. You know something is coming up but have no idea what.

In the last 2 days I have driven about 2500 km which is somewhere around 1400 miles.  I also drove all the way to Prince Edward Island  for a total of about 4800 km.  Jim drove on the Island for the whole week - about 600 km. I do enjoy the driving and he prefers to navigate.

We had a great time and my bother's wedding was just beautiful but I am also glad to be back home in my own bed.  We had great rooms on the way down and back and the cottage we stayed in for the week was very comfortable.  I have several photos which I will add in soon.

I have a lot of reading here to catch up on but it seems like everyone is safe from the storms and hurricanes. I am certainly glad to hear that. Hannah did hit us but in spite of all the damage, we were safe in the area where we stayed. The day before the wedding was storming and tons of rain came down all day.  The day after the wedding was the same only fierce winds accompanyed the storms.  The actual day of the wedding dawned bright and sunny with fluffy white clouds and lots of sunshine - almost like God was sanctioning the union and planned a perfect day for it.

I'll get to work on the pictures and post them as soon as I can.  Take care all and I'm so glad to be back!

Hello everyone! Hope you all are well and safe! I am worried about Marsha! I am sure she is ok, but maybe no power!  ---- I had Caity today. She was here til 11:30 and of course she did not take a nap here, but did at home!  Bill and I had to run to my neice's to see if her sump pump was working. We have had sooooooo much rain here in the last few days , that we worried about her basement flooding, but it was OK. They are living in N.C. but haven't sold the house up here as yet. So we kinda look after it for her. When we came home I go us something to eat , and then laid down to read my book, weeeeeelllll, I fell asleep. lol. Didn't read one word. Shame on me. Bill says he thinks I am just exhausted from this past week, and Caity too. With the gout and my legs and feet hurting all the time it is a little hard on me. I haven't had a shoe on for 5 weeks now. I just wear flip flops, since my foot is still swelled. Hope that changes by the time the snow flies.LOL. So after I get off her I think I will try to read some of my book.

Grammit - Good to see you here. We've missed you! Sorry to hear Chester is in the hospital, hope all goes well for him. What kind of surgery is Connie having on her feet? Good luck to her. Hope Bud is doing OK, despite his little accidents. I hope your sister and BIL are doing OK now! Take care.

Pat - - Glad to have you home with us! That would of been scary with the road signs in a language you don't understand. YOU sure did a lot of driving. Glad to hear you had a great time. but I know it's always good to get home. Take care.

Thank you both for the kind comments aboutt Caity's pics. She sure brightens our world.

Have a great evening everyone. Stay safe! kathy

Good morning!  We made it through the storm in one piece. The worst of the rain and wind didn't hit until after lunch. But, we had rain squalls and lots of wind all morning. The center of the storm came directly over us, and of course, we lost our power. It was out for several hours. I was glad we had all those batteries, water, etc., etc. We just sat here and listened to the wind howling around the corner of the building, and watched the rain coming down in sheets! The whole parking lot was flooded. By 9:00 last night it was all over, but still windy. The power had come back on, and I was outside making sure all the kitties were okay. They were! There were only 2 that I couldn't find. But, they were on the porch this morning looking for something to eat. All the extra boxes we put out there were full - no vacancy! I checked with the kids last night to make sure they were okay. Andrew & family were fine. Monica's in Dallas, and they didn't get near what we got, so they were okay.
Thank you for all your prayers. I'm sure that's what got us all through this safely.

So, this morning it's clear, but still rather windy. I'm going up to the grocery store after a while to do our normal shopping.

Gene - I did go out on the porch one time during the worst of it to check on the kitties. Sure didn't take long to get me soaked! LOL!

Grammit - I sure am glad to see you! I'm so sorry that Chester is in the hospital. My prayers are with him and Connie. I hope the surgery goes well.
I sure hope your sister and BIL are doing better. Take care of yourself!

Pat - Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. It's always nice to get back home and into your own bed. Can't wait to see the pictures!

Kathy - Bills's right. I'll bet your are exhausted! Get as much rest as you can! You have been awfully busy this past week.

I'm going to get going. I've got a bunch of dishes to get cleaned up before I go to the store. You all have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Morning everyone.....
Marsha, so glad it wasn't too bad in your area with the storm.  Now, of course, I am worried about Val!!  I saw an Ireport on CNN this morning from the area she lives in.  Looks as tho it got hit pretty hard.  And yesterday I was thinking about her sister in Shreeveport as I remembered they had evacked to there during Rita.  Sure hope all is well with her and her sister.  They had some bad storms headed that way the other day.  You are lucky to have power back on so quickly, Marsha...looks like Huston won't be so lucky and a lot of people won't have it for about two to three weeks!!
Pat, I'm so glad to hear you are home safe and sound.  Looking forward to seeing your pictures.
Skeeter......looks as tho you folks in Kansas are in for a stormy day today.
We are going to be at 83 today.....then the bottom is dropping out...lol...and into the 40's at night.  Connie and Ben are taking her AC's out today and getting the house ready for her to be away for a month.  Of course Lilly dog and the cats will be there still.  I'll have to go down a couple times a day to feed them and let them out.  Her operation won't be until noon on Tue.  She will be here with us for at least a month after.  She is worried about her job, of course...but has to get her feet done.....the right one especially.
Kathy, I'm so sorry you are having so much trouble with your feet.  Wish you lived a little closer...you know I'd find a way to help...lol...Ya...flip flops in our snow won't be a good thing!!  But I've seen some of the school kids wear them then!!!  I know your pain...have seen it on my daughter's face.  I keep you in my prayers.  Thanks for sharing the great pictures of your little one.  She is such a doll!!  Allie and our Poot moved out and in with J.  They are in an apt. right across the street from Connie.  The problem is they did it behind everyone's back and we worry about J and his temper........not to mention his background.  But, I have keept a foot in the door with her and trying to keep track of the baby what I can.  When I can have him here, I just go get him.  I defy her to tell me I can't bring him over!  Which, of course, she hasn't.....yet.
Chester is still in ICU, but that is probably the best place for him just now.  Meanwhile I have got to finish getting things ready for the coming school week....groceries, cleaning, lawn to mow....and of course Bud every 15 minutes.  The meds he takes makes him go to the bathroom about every 15 minutes, and he can't do that without help in and out.
Ed, and Gene......hope all is well in Fla.
Val, if you get a chance, please let us know you are ok.
Got to run.....
Grammit

Hi Groupies;  Hope you are all having a good Sunday.  The weather here this morning is "wonnaful gut." lol  We dodged the bullet on Ike...thank you storm dieties for passing us by....so much devastation is caused by nature's anger, but I'm glad our groupies are all safe and sound, albeit a bit wet and windblown.

Having a 'bon voyage' gathering tonight for grandson Corey who is taking a giant step into the world as he leaves for army boot camp. Seems like just the other day we were chasing that little scamp all over the place.  I miss that little boy, but I think I'm going to like the man he's becoming.

On that note....forgive me for butting in Grammit....but the me you know and love has to remind her much admired friend that you worked so hard and with so much love to help Allie grow into a responsible  adult, a mother, a working girl, and perhaps someday a wife.....now let her do it!  Unless baby Donavan is in danger of being abused or neglected, that girl has to make her own life decisions.  I've candles lit, as always, for you and yours and an extra one for Chester.  I sent you an email the other day but got it back because your box was full....so empty it will ya?

Gotta go, take care my friends;
Ciao bella;
Gene

Happy Sunday everyone!  So nice to wake up in my own house.  We had been invited to Tara's place last night for a BBQ supper and was it ever good!  She had a huge pork roast and tons of ribs, corn on the cob that we had brought back from the Island, cheesey cauliflower and tons of sides. Everything was so tender!

So Jim is scheduled to go back to work tonight at Walmart. He is really having second thoughts and I have told him that whatever he decides is fine with me.  He just is not used to being on his feet all night long.

I got some of the photos set up to show you.  These first ones are mainly of my brother's wedding....

This first one is showing down the lawn slope towards the water.  You can see the deck and the dock.  The ceremony took place on the deck with a harpist on the dock below them.

This was the view back up the slope to the main house..... You can see what a beautiful day it was...

The food was all put together by the local church auxilary ladies except the cake, which Fran baked and decorated herself......

The cake was decorated with live flowers and was sooo  rich!!

Of course I had to throw at least one pic of Jim!!!

Everything turned out so well.  We stayed in one of the cabins on site until Thursday before heading home.  I'll post a few pics of the cabin later.

So today is laundry day and boy is there ever tons of that!!  I have almost 2 weeks worth of mom's and Cate's plus all of our travel stuff.  It's been raining off and on all day and I think none of us wants to do much.  Jim is napping already in preparation for work tonight.  The place does need a bit of TLC so I have been puttering around too but doing nothing very heavy.

So my dryer has beeped at me yet again.  Take care all and keep safe.
