I have been subjected to the rigors of Grade School. My youngest Granson (7) brought home the Holiday Gleep. I went to my Dr 3 weeks ago with a breathing problem at night. He suggested a chest X-ray and a breath test. Both came back negative. I only have a slight conjestion in my breathing, and if I were to lose some weight, that would go away. No Ashma and nothing left over from my smoking some 30 year plus when I quit! I still have a slight sore throat and a voice that comes and goes. Yet I still have a problem of short breath. Lots of chest conjestion and a dry Nasal cough and some phlem. I am becoming very discouraged with my Dr's anaylsis. I am thinking to go to another Dr for a second opinion. He now has me on a pill to cover a virus. I am not happy with the loss of sleep or the shortness of breath... Any suggestions anyone?

Sounds like the same thing I've been going through since June! Definitely see another doctor. I sure would if our insurance would allow it. I've gone through 4 rounds of antibiotics, and still have that cough, and a sore throat that comes and goes. That's not to mention the shortness of breath.
Like I said - go see another doctor. It never hurts to get a second opinion.

Hi Ed:  Sorry you are not feeling up to snuff.  A second pillow on your bed at night may help to prop you up a bit while you're sleeping.  This should allow for better drainage at night.  For a sore throat, I generally add a sprinkle of cinnamon to my hot tea.  It makes an awful mess of the cup but it sure eases my throat.

If you are able to consult another doctor then by all means, do so.  We are not allowed here with the extreme shortage of doctors.  I wish we could because my own doctor doesn't seem to pay too much attention and is quick with the pill fix too.

Hope you are feeling better soon....

Ed, you are surely NOT alone in this...I, too, have had this creeping crud, or whatever it is.  Bronkel pnemonia was what Chester's doctor said he had.  I have no health insurance, thus...no doctor.  I've been living on Dayquil and sleeping nearly in a sitting position on three pillows for over a week now.   I'm not sure there is anything to knock it out...but be careful it doesn't turn into pnemonia on ya.
Hope you all will be feeling better soon......

Ed: 1. see another doctor. 2. Get a pint of Rock & Rye and a box of good English Breakfast Tea....put both together and sip....if you don't like that try substituting Meyers rum and adding a dollop of butter and a bit of honey and sip.  3.  You could go to the pharmacy and get some Robitussin....if you can even get it in this country anymore. 4.  Boil some water, put a towel over your head, place head over the boiled water and breath in.  Do this several times a day.

Grammit, follow 2 through 4. or you could ask Shuneeka...I'm sure she has a few 'cures.'
