A Red letter day in Holiday, FL. Actually it was a Black letter day. Today was the first day since the middle of April that I was able to shut off the AC. That means we switched from using lots of electric to a much smaller amount for awhile. For those who are not familiar with FL. Almost all homes in FL are total electric. Very little oil heated of even less Natural Gas. But a lot of of power generating stations are oil fired. My furnace, along with the air handler is in the attic. The heat is ceramic lined heating coils and the blower doubles as the AC blower. All in all, it is pretty efficent. Having really mild weather and doubling the insulation in the house has helped a lot.
We are in the process of installing double pane Vinyl windows to cut down the loss of heat/AC. No Hurricane shutters yet, but the is in the future....Ed

I'll be glad when we can turn off our air conditioning! It gets too warm in the afternoons to have it off. But, even when it gets cool enough to turn on the heat, we'll still have the high electric bills because these apartments are all electric. I sure would help to have those nice double paned windows, but I know the owner isn't going to put out that kind of money. Too bad.
Beautiful picture!
