Good morning!  It was raining when we got up, but it's stopped now. That cold front is coming through. Right now, it's about 59, but I think it's only supposed to reach 70.

Would you all say a prayer for Kyle? On Tuesday evening, he was attacked by a dog. This dog was one that lived there with them. It doesn't belong to Monica, but to their roommate. Kyle was just sitting on the couch watching TV when the dog lunged at him. Monica was in the kitchen, and when she heard Kyle screaming, she ran in and saw the dog with Kyle's arm in his mouth, trying to drag Kyle off the couch. Monica's fiance, David, came running in from the bedroom, and grabbed the dog in a headlock and started choking him until he let go. David was an Army Ranger - he could just as well have snapped the dog's neck. But, because he wasn't their dog, he didn't. He dragged the dog outside. Monica said there was blood everywhere. She washed Kyle's arm off, and then they loaded him in the car to take him to the ER. On their way out the door, their roommate said - Tell them it was a stray dog. You know why? Because the dog has already bitten 3 other people! At the ER, they immediately gave Kyle some Tylenol 3, and put him on an antibiotic IV. Then they proceeded to clean out the wounds. And, they were deep. Monica said you could see past the fatty layer under the skin. When the doctor got everything cleaned, he wrapped Kyle's arm in bandages. They kept him there for a while to watch him, but he was doing okay, so they let him go home. The doctor explained to Monica that they don't stitch up dog bites because a dog has so much bacteria in it's mouth, that a stitched wound will always become infected. They X-rayed for any broken bones, but none were seen. Thankfully! Now, the doctor's are going to watch for nerve damage. Let's hope not! Kyle's right arm is bandaged from the wrist to the elbow, and also his ring finger on his left hand.
When the doctor inquired as to the dog, Monica told him that the dog lived there. The doctor said this will be reported to Animal Control, and if there are any other reports about this dog, it'll be taken away and put down.
Kyle's at home and doing pretty good, although there's still alot of pain.
Yesterday, their roommate told them that she's not getting rid of her dog, so if they don't like it, then they'll have to move. I talked to Monica last night to see how Kyle was doing, and she said that they'll be leaving Dallas and moving back here. The house belongs to their roommate. Anyway, Monica said there are plenty of hospitals, nursing homes and clinics around this area, so she won't have any problems getting another job. I'm glad they're coming home. They don't need to be in a house where there's a dangerous dog.

So, you know what I did yesterday! Worried about Kyle. LOL! I know Monica can take good care of him, but when you live so far away, you worry anyway.

Pat - It's nothing unusual to see people around here mowing their lawn in Nov., or even Dec. Just depends on how warm it is. Take it easy doing all that!

Grammit - You're always so busy! I'm glad you're finally getting that roof taken care of. Poor Sammy dog! All that noise bothers him. Take care of yourself!

Kathy - You got a good deal on the camera! I'm sure Tom will have a great time with it! I never know what to get for Michael, so I always let him get his own! LOL!

I guess I'll go. Monica will call in just a little bit on her way home from work. You all have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Good evening all. Hope you had a nice day. Mine was another one with Caity taking no nap!! So she was falling asleep when her Daddy was carrying her out the door.. lol. Seh gets quite grumpy when she doesnt  nap, but you can't tell her that.. O ya, Tom's camera came today, I just ordered day before yesterday.. It looks really nice but Bill said for me to check it out, and I told him I dont know a thing about them and I'm not touching it, I will get Tracy to do it!!!

Marsha - OMG.. I amso sorry to hear about Kyle. yes ofcourse I will say a prayer for him . What a terrible thing . I think that roommate should get some kind of punishment out of this too. No sense in having a dog like that around..!!! I know how worried you are. I'll be praying for you all. Please take care.. and be glad they are coming home!!

Have a good evening all, Hugs, Kathy

Good morning!  It's chilly! The temp right now is just 42, and it isn't supposed to get any warmer than 70 this afternoon. It's still rather mild for Nov.!

Kyle's doing pretty good. I'm glad that Monica is a nurse because she can clean the wounds. She said last night that it was looking good - still draining, but that's a good thing. She keeps trying to get him to move his fingers, but he cries when he does it because it hurts so much. But because the muscle was torn, it will hurt. Monica's kept him home from school this week, but she went up to the school and got all his work so he won't fall behind.
They'll be moving back on the weekend of the 15th, and she'll get Kyle in school on the 17th so he doesn't miss any time.

Otherwise, not much else going on here. I've been working on the new site - off and on. LOL!

Kathy - Yes, that roommate needs to get rid of the dog, but she seems to think more of the dog than she does her friends. If she doesn't, then one day that dog will hurt someone worse than he did Kyle. Then, she's really going to be in trouble.
You don't know how glad I am that they're coming home! They won't be in this town, but in the next one over - just 19 miles away instead of nearly 100!

I better go and get stuff done this morning. You all have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Oh, Marsha...I'm so sorry to hear what happened to Kyle!!  Poor kid..that's enough to make a child scared of dogs.....period!  I hope there won't be nerve damage.  Good decision by your daughter to move!!  I'd have gotten my 357 out on the spot, I'm afraid.
Kathy, I've been like you....kid care.  Had Poot here all day yesterday.  Wed night Allie called.  From the symptoms we were hearing from her...severe headache...and Poot, tho he had napped long in the afternoon was crying to go back to bed....Connie and I called the fire dept to have them check for a possible carbon monoxide leak.  There was none, thank goodness....but the ambulance took Allie to the ER anyhow to check out her headache.  Connie and Ben took Poot to their house.  Poor kid is STILL saying "Mommy go amboo"....he was so upset to see his mom go in that ambulance!!  I went to ER with Allie....we were there till midnight.  I brought her here and put her to bed.  Ben and the baby came Thurs. morning at 6.  I got all three boys fed and off to school and took care of the baby all day.  Nick helped a lot when he got home.  Then went to a school meeting with Nick's teachers and fed everyone and got Allie and the baby back home.  I am doing four loads of her laundry today and trying to get my own bills written out.
The roofers are done........$4,800 and a lot of noise later.....lol...but at least we have a roof on the garage and back porch.  It had BETTER last!!
Kathy, Poot loves "Dorrie", too.  We have tons of "Dorrie" things around here...lol...I have been buying a few things here and there.....but not much as our Christmas will be small.  We have too much going out on a weekly basis around here lately.  Allie's medicine alone was $106 !!  Sinus infection, they think.  The ER bill will be near $500.  I handed over $100 the week before when Poot went to the ER!!  And HE has insurance.  But with the deductables.....which they want ON THE SPOT....it was still expensive!
Ed.....glad you are still able to get into group with Marsha's help.
Pat, I'm like you and enjoying the last of this beautiful warm weather!!  Yesterday it was 66 degrees here!!  Today they are saying 63!  I know it won't last, but sure am enjoying what we can get!
Well, got to run and get busy around here.......
Grammit

Good afternoon all - Had a busy morning so I'm late getting in here.  I just noticed that I didn't even post yesterday!  That is strange.  I must be losing it.  (lol)

This morning I was up by 8am because Jim and I had to pick up a few things for Tara.  She is doing Jesse's birthday party tomorrow and running out of time. The school called about Kyle again.  This time he called his teacher a liar and she suspended him.  Tara had to pick him up. Kyle and this particular teacher do not get along at all.  We asked him what this was all about and he said the teacher brought in a movie for the class to watch. This happens every once in awhile but this was the first time the class actually did something to earn it!  The teacher had said they could vote on which movie to watch and then brought one of her own in instead.  Kyle asked about her promise and she snapped at thim. "This is the one I brought and that's it"  Kyle said but you said we could vote! You lied!  That's all it took for her and she sent him to the office along with another kid that said 'yeah!' and they both got suspended.

She is calling Tara about 3 times a week for things she says Kyle does.  One time, Kyle decided that to get along with her, he just wouldn't talk at all except for yes mamam and no mamam, because he always says the wrong thing.  She called Tara to say he was making fun of her and to come and take him home. He says he can't win!

Anyway, we got Tara's things bought and drove them over to her place. Then we stopped at a grocer's to pick up a few things we wanted.  When we got home, I cut Jim's hair and he headed for the shower.  He has a 25 year Dinner with Canada Cartage tonight in Toronto and wanted to leave early to visit with some of the employees first.

He will be driving his van of course, but mine went into the shop last night to get an air emmisions test done for my new licence in December. That meant everything had to be done this morning as he won't be home with his van until sometime after 10 pm.

I did get the lawn all done yesterday and bagged all the cuttings.  What a job!  I even did around the back but just the areas that had new sod and was overgrown.  We have all our plants and shrubs wrapped. My wave petunias were still pretty but they all got pulled too.  No sense in waiting until they looked shabby. It looks so plain out there now!

Tonight I am having a T-Bone steak, baked potato, pepper fried mushrooms and carrots.  Sounds yummy eh?  Jim does not care for steak so whenever he is to be away, I indulge myself.  Tonight's the night!

So this is beginning to be kind of long winded.  I will sign off for now and wish you all a great weekend!

PAT

Grammit - I am still astounded at the medical prices in the States! You are so kind to be helping Allie so much. I'll bet you're proud of your new roof too!

Marsha - I know that Kyle is in good hands but of course that doesn't stop you from worrying.  What a horrible thing to have happened to him! I surprised that Monica could even take him back to that house without a big fight from him? He must be scared now. How could that other woman side with her dog? He had bitten someone 3 times before?? Maybe David should have snapped its neck!  I'm sure he felt like it. It will be so nice when they live closer to you again.

Kathy - Sure glad you got the camera.  I just know that Tom is going to love it! Excellent price too! We have our yard waste pickup every 2 weeks around here.  With the surprising nice weather lately, everyone has been out working on their yards to the point where the pick up trucks are way behind. We did not even get a pick up last week and we were not the only ones. Apparently there are sending more trucks out this week too to try and catch up on all of it.  They haven't shown up here yet and its already 2 in the afternoon.  We have 9 bags out there waiting! Sure hope they make it down our street.

Ed - Got it all worked out now have you?  Way to go!  I sure would hate to lose you!  I'm getting excited about the move.

Hello everyone.. It was not too bad of a day. I took Caity for  a ride to McD's and got her a happy meal but she fell asleep on the way home so she did not eat much of it. she slept for 3 hours, That was kinda nice. Bill and I are not feeling well tonight. I think mine is a cold, but not sure what's up with Bill. He says he thought he was having a heart attack or stroke or something. He was down back and when he came up, he said for awhile he couldn't  move his mouth and his chest hurt. I asked him if he wanted me to call 911 and he wasn't having it, so he went and laid down, now he says he feels better. ???  So I guess we will see how he feels later and in the morning. Bill is stubborn when it comes to going to DR. He doesn't have any medical insurance. But it doesn't matter when you are sick -you should just go see whats happening. We did that one time and took him to the hospital and here he had shingles, and they act like a heart attack sometimes. I'll have to check him out!!  Well everyone take care.

Marsha - I'm sure Kyle is in a lot of pain. Hope he gets better every day! Glad that HE and Monica are moving home real soon. AT least you will be alot closer. Take care.

Grammit - - Sorry to hear that Allie and Poot were sick. hope they are better now. G' they sure keep you hopping up there. You are so kind to help out. Hope everything gets back to normal for you soon, or at least semi-normal!! lol. Take care.

Pat - - -You've been working hard too.  We missed you yesterday!! Sorry to hear about your Kyle being suspended from school. Some times I wonder about these teachers these days, they are not like when I went to school. .. Take some time for yourself!! Steak, yummy!!! LOL.

Good night everyone, hugs ,Kathy

Kathy, please, please override Bill's protests and get him some medical attention as soon as you can. Those symptoms are nothing to fool around with.

And take care of yourself too.

Good morning everyone! I'm stopping in for just a minute. We've got tons of things to get done today, and have to get started early.

Monica and David are starting to move this weekend. They'll be completely moved by next weekend. Monica won't have any problem getting a new job in this area. There are lots of nursing homes and hospitals. Kyle is doing very well. I was talking to her last night while she was cleaning the wounds. He wasn't hollering! LOL! Monica said his arm was looking really good. She didn't like the way his finger looked, but she's keeping an eye on it. At least she's got him moving his fingers and hand - which is good!

I need to go get dressed! LOL! I'll tell you more tomorrow. You all have a great day!  Hugs, Marsha

Hello everyone, hope you all had a nice day! I still feel like I have  a cold, but Bill says he feels fine today. He has been up and at 'em today doing his normal things and so far so good. I am not what was up yesterday, but I am going to try to get him to go for a check up and make sure things are OK.
We had Caity this morning and she seemed kinda out of sorts, so if she is feeling like me , then I can understand. We are always so close that if one of us has something the other is bound to get it.  But Tracy says she is acting fine now and was playing Tom's drums when I called . lol. It was bang! bang!! bang!!!

Gene -  Thanks for your concern, I am going to try toget him to the DR. for a check up next week..I appreciate your worrying. I worry too. Men are funny creatures!!! Take care .

Marsha - -Glad to hear that Kyle is doing so well. Take and have fun doing your errands today!

Good night, all, have a great evening, Kathy

Hello everyone - It's 5 pm already!  Jim, mom and I have been at Jesse's birthday party since 10:30 am.  He was five and had invited 16 kids to the party!  Thank goodness only 11 of them showed up!  Tara's place was jammed wall to wall.  As usual she kept them hopping during the whole thing and by the time they all left, there were some pretty tired kids being led out the door by their parents.  They all got their goody bag and added the different prizes that they won to it.  Tara always makes sure every kid wins at least one prize and several won more than that.  She served them Pogos (Cornmeal covered weiners on a stick) and two huge trays of cut up fruit.  They always go for the fresh fruit.

I couldn't take any pictures this time because something seems to be wrong with my camera!  How dissappointing!  I did use Tara's camera though and several other people took photos too, so she'll have lots.

Jim and I laid down for a nap when we got home and both of us went out right away.  I got up first and sat in the kitchen just daydreaming and then all of a sudden, it started to hail!  It took me by surprise and was bouncing all over my deck.  It didn't last very long but told me that winter was eager to begin.  (sigh) I guess it has to happen.

Tonight's supper is left overs, probably corned beef and cabbage. I got my apples all done yesterday but haven't started the pumpkins yet.  I also have a huge bag of carrots (10 lbs) that I got for $1.50.  I thought perhaps I would make a big pot of carrot soup tonight - haven't had that in a long time. I also got a 10 lb bag of onions for $1.50 but they will keep a lot better. Mind you, I haven't had French Onion soup for ages either......

Jim went to his Dinner in Toronto last night and I did have my T-bone with mushrooms and baked potato.  My goodness that was so good!  Wonder when he's going to be out for supper next time??  (lol)

So our nice weather seems to be over now.  We ended up having 4 wonderful days, more than I expected and I sure am grateful for them.  The only thing we didn't get done was the fish pond.  The plants have all been removed but the pond itself needs a cleaning and a water change.  Don't know if it will get done now. Hate trying to do it during the cold weather.  It should have been done long ago.

I hope you are all having a good weekend.  Good weather or bad, take the best of care.

PAT

Marsha - Good to hear that Kyle is doing ok.  It's going to be busy around there as Monica and David make the move.  Do they have a place yet?

Kathy - Don't let Bill put this off too long!  Things can happen so suddenly and that's why the body tries to warn you ahead of time. It sure sounds like his body is in distress.

Hi Gene - You are so right about Bill.  You never know how or when.  Good advice.

Grammit - I know you are busy, busy!  Is Allie feeling a bit better now?  Must have been scary for Poot.  Take care of you too.

Hi Kathy - We must have been posting at the same time.  Hope your cold gets better.

Well I just thought I would write in a small post to tell you how wonderful the carrot soup turned out. Jim is having bowl after bowl with crackers and loving it!

Good morning everyone!  We're going to have a really nice day today, but it'll be the last one until the weekend - at least that's what the weather channel is saying. Storms are supposed to move in tonight, and then rain for most of the week. I'm planning on spending a bit of time outside this afternoon to enjoy the weather. It's rather chilly right now - only 43! It's supposed to reach the low 70's this afternoon.

Kyle's doing very well. His arm is healing nicely. Monica has to take him in to see the doctor on Wed or Thurs to have it checked. They've started the moving process. They're bringing a truck load of stuff this afternoon.

Andrew and Tanya came over Friday morning with Peyton. She's just too cute! LOL! Anyway, Andrew and Tanya have been together for over 7 years, and have finally decided to be legally married. Took 'em long enough! Hee! Hee! They're planning a nice wedding for sometime in February.
So, they're getting married in Feb., and Monica & David have moved theirs up to May. Gee! We'll have a busy first half of 2009!

We got all our running around done yesterday, ending up at Wal-Mart. It sure was crowded! But, by the time we got home, we could STAY home! I was looking in there for a new mouse for the computer. This one is acting funny. Sometimes it'll click on something and sometimes it won't. All they had were optical mice. I wanted just a plain old mouse, but looks like I'm not going to find one. I've even been looking on eBay, but to no avail. Sigh!

Kathy - Definitely get Bill to the doctor! IF he had a mild heart attack or stroke, it's only leading up to the big one. You want to prevent that if at all possible. Hog tie him and toss him in the van if you have to, but get him there!
I hope you're feeling some better. Seems that the colds this year just want to hang on and on.

Pat - Sounds like you had a busy day! I love carrot soup - haven't had any in ages!
Monica and David are going to stay with his sister for a short time. Monica wants to get a job and they want to find a nice place to live. This move is sudden, so they haven't had time to look for a place of their own. But, they know that they have to leave their roommate's house. It's too dangerous with that dog there, and she won't do anything about it.

Grammit - I'm sure Poot was scared to see his Mom taken away in the ambulance. How's Allie doing? She'll be in my prayers!
I think Christmas is going to be small for just about everyone this year. You just can't afford much with prices the way they are.
Take care of yourself!

Gene - How's it going with you? Good advice for Kathy. We definitely need to take heed of those warning signs.

Better get going. You all have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Good afternoon all - The way our weather has turned, it looks like we don't even have much Autumn left.  Tara and Terry called us this morning to join them for buffet breakfast at the Market.  Sure was good!  Since then, Terry and Jim have been working on setting up some new bird feeders for me.  They are trying to set them up so my squirrels can't get at them.  Good luck!!

I'm feeling very weary today - not sure why but I'll be laying down for a nap soon.  I didn't have anything urgent planned for the day anyway so maybe my body just wants to catch up to itself. Yesterday was pretty hectic with the kid's party and all.

I hope you are all having a good Sunday.  Take care.

PAT

Marsha - Going to be a busy Spring for you guys! Don't you just love weddings?

Hello everyone , hope you all are well. I still feel yucky. Bill is saying he feels fine. He is acting normal, but I will call the DR. tomorrow and see if he can get in there. I know it will be a battle royal with him. He says he is not going and that I can't make him go. Soooo. --- I did get a few things done around the house this morning in between rests. I get shakey when I stand up for too long. O well, just dig a hole and put us both in and forget us!!! lol...
We had left over veggie soup that I had in the freezer for dinner today. Good enough for anybody..

Pat - I'm sure you were tired after that party yesterday!! Bet those little ones had a good time tho. I'm like you  I hate to see winter come, but we don't really have a choice!! Thanks for all your caring about Bill , I will all I can to get him to the DR.. Take care.

Marsha - - I hope no more hurricanes come your way, or mine either for that matter!! Happy to hear that Monica and Kyle are moving some stuff tod ay. Congrats to Andrew and Tanya and Monica and David too. You all take care..

Well I am going to get off here for the night, Have a good evening.. Hugs, Kathy
