Couple Waits Till Marriage for First Kiss

CHICAGO ?nbsp; Won't kiss on the first date? How about waiting until marriage?

Chicagoans Melody LaLuz, 28, and Claudaniel Fabien, 30, shared their first kiss Saturday at the altar. The two teach abstinence at the city's public schools and practiced what they preached to their teenage students.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the couple had never kissed and that they had never been alone together in a house.

A friend of LaLuz says wedding guests cheered and stomped during the two-minute smooch.

LaLuz and Fabien say they have no worries about how they will spend their honeymoon in the Bahamas.

{ They kissed for two minutes after they were married. I'm surprised they didn't consumate the marriage right then and there! To each their own....I guess.}

Two minutes is a long time. It's 20 seconds longer than it takes to heat water for tea in the microwave.

Interesting.  I'm all about abstinence, but no kissing?

Did they hold hands?  That's sensual too...

It's a sad commentary on the morals of this country when not kissing is considered newsworthy.

I think it is newsworthy that some adhere to their princples instead of attempting to impose them on others while following different ones in their personal lives. Rather worthy of some respect, I'd say.

It's an interesting response to a complex social problem.  It's almost like there's overstimulus (no pun intended whatsoever); therefore, some couples retreat from ALL pressures and expectations until they feel they are in a safe circumstance.

I understand that some people do not marry until they get married.

I would have a hard time marrying a woman I'd never kissed.

OC...in your economy of words, you cut to the chase.  Societies change due to many factors, and intentionally or not, behaviours and attitudes towards events and activities ameliorate.

Even in my generation, though not as exclusively as in previous ones, "marriage" was in large part defined by sexual activity and cohabitation...not so much the case these days.  What we see in couples like these (and I use the plural intentionally...I know of 2 couples who did the same thing) is an attempt to regain exclusivity and all that entails.  The truth/notion/idea of being the only person to enter certain areas of another's world is powerful.
