Heavy winds last night and today have knocked out power in large areas of michigan. Estimates as high as 200,000 customers without power. Here at my building in Ypsi, floors 5-8 are powerless. But us lucky ones on the 1st through 4th have full power. I think this the karma from last summer when the situation was exactly reversed. Some refugees from the eighth floor have taken shelter here at my apartment. I made a frittata for us for breakfast. We are now watching the detroit lions trying to go 0-16. Of course my only TV in my apartment is in the bedroom ,so all five of us are in bed watching the game We are starting to think about sloppy joes for lunch or dinner as there still is no estimate of when restoration will occur. All in all, we are having a good time LOL |

well.... its only the third quarter of the game so thats the whole story so far... but power restoration estimates arent too promising At a glance Severe weather duration | Customers who lost power | Customers restored to-date | Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 | 210,000 | 5,000 | | | | | Please report downed power lines or power outages online or by phoning 800.477.4747. Scope of Storm The heavy winds, which began early this morning, continue to cause widespread outages throughout the entire Midwest as well as the DTE Energy service area. Although winds are subsiding, strong gusts will continue throughout the afternoon and into tomorrow. Restoration Progress A few thousand customers have had their power restored, and line crews have been dispatched to nearly half of the reported outages. However, outage reports continue to mount and it appears that restoration may take several days to complete. Some 300 linemen from other utilities are en route and will be working on outages starting tomorrow. Because we are still receiving outage reports and assessing the extent of damage, it will be several hours yet before we are able to provide more detailed service restoration estimates. Our next Web update will occur at approximately 5 p.m. so i guess anything could happen |

well here we are at day 2 3/4 of power outage. Still all here in bed watching tv. I managed finally to get the red cross out today. Fed us pizza for lunch, and stew and hot dogs for dinner. they brought blankets and coffee etc. and will return in the am to feed us some more and help all they can. We will be on the wdiv 11 pm news, i was interviewed about our outage. So if anyone wants my autograph they should ask now before demand bccomes two much to handle. I was hoping they would do a story revolving around all five of us living in the bed with the tv in my apartment, but somehow they were more interested in the no heat and power issues. Wxyz news also was here. we think that may be on at 11 pm also. it appears we may not be fully restored till Wednesday. Truthfully this is the most fun we all have ever had living here. Today i made french toast for breakfast and potato soup for whenever. Red Cross fed us stew and hot dogs for dinner. Its gonna be lonley around here when the power goes back on. |
