Whew~ another week behind us & a fresh start for all the things we didn't get to last week~ we all had a very busy weekend.. friday of course getting ready for the sale.. saturday had lisa & the girls out here all day for the sale, which considering I do live  a little ways out from town, they had the Christmas Bizzare at the Catholic Church Saturday.. around 20 some odd booths w/ crafts/ candles, etc.. we wanted to go, but it started at 8:30 & we started at 8:00, so missed out this year.. oh well, thats how things go some days.. BUT .. there was an auction that day as well.. plus some other rummage sales.. we sold over $300.00  between the two of us.. so all in all we did great~ after Lisa & the girls went on home, as tired as I was I decided we would make a quick trip to Harrisburg to the new Walmart, ended up asking mom to go with us & we got a few groceries.. I don't know how people do all their groceries & other stuff just at WM.. I can't afford it..they have good buys on some things, but I need to go to Aldi's (box store) for my canned goods, etc..  .. oh well, then yesterday I had Josh, Crystal & their 3 kids all day.. they hadn't been down since Labor Day, so since they don't have a washer & dryer they can hook up where they live, they always go to the laundry mat.. so when they come down I have them bring laundry with them.. they did their towels the night before, because they always seem to take so long to dry (bigger loads), but we spent the day with them, which was nice for a change.. so, now today is BACK to work~ as usual.. but on the bright side, my house isn't too bad this a.m., my basement is awesome, cleared/cleaned out  & cleaned up.. of course the toys still need sorted & I still need to clear some hot spots here there & yonder, BUT all in all it wouldn't bother me for company just to POP IN.. have a great start to your week, will be back later to update..God Bless~ gina
LOL.. talk about needing to pay attention to something.. got noah up & ready & he was standing outside waiting for the bus, neighbors that work at school had never came down & then I asked him if he was sure there was even school & he said NO Fall break today, Veteran's Day tomorrow.. geez.. I could've slept just a bit longer.. oh well, noahs home today & kelc don't work either.. dh is working, & I will be working the wood & other stuff can be their job today.. have a good one.. my mind is gone.. lol
yackin~ todo~ working on~ done~
  • up, dh had turned coffee on, fixed dh's lunch & coffee mug, typed 4 reports, layed down on the couch & snoozed until 7ish, got noah up, fed, ready & dressed for school, bag ready & NO SCHOOL
  • went down & put wood in the stove, brought up noahs clothes from the dryer, checked work(none), check groups, emails, etc.
  • talk to mom sometime this a.m. to see if they are sending dad home today?? they mentioned trying to, but not sure

After Noah leaves:::

  • balance check books
  • pay bills
  • carry more wood in basement
  • fill stove
  • throw a load in washer
  • make our bed
  • make noahs bed
  • s&s bathroom

  • check work & type the remainder of the day in between....
  • keeping wood stove going
  • laundry (not alot)
  • deciding on what's for supper::: maybe hotdogs & kraut, fried potatoes, ?? veggie

Sounds like a busy, fun weekend, Gina! We used to have vVeteran's Day off. Not any more. Don't know what the deal is with that....though I'm NOT complaining!! The kids are early out all week for PTC. Thought it was last week. I'm so far behind, I think I'm ahead!! lol

SIL is in town with her three little kids (4, 2, and 4mo.). They're staying at mom's, but want to have dinner here tonight. I'm trying to get in the mood. Bless her heart, she's a rather toxic person and can be difficult to be around. At least she isn't staying here. My brother owns a heating and refrigeration co. He has three more jobs and then there's no more work. All new building has stopped and they just moved into a big new home this summer (he's getting it ready to put on the market so she got the kids out of the way.). In this market, I don't know if they'll be able to sell that HUGE house. Luckily they have a lot of equity in it because he did most of the work or traded it out. He's talking about going to Iraq as a private contractor now.

Last night at mom's, sil got a little snippy at me because DH still has a job. Funny though, they didn't have a problem being snippy toward us about how much more money they were obviously making the last few years. They loved to tell us about all the trips and toys they were buying and , "Oh, it's too bad that with all your college degrees you can't make as much as we do and we never went to college!" Still, I feel bad for them and amazingly enough didn't come away feeling irritation or anything. "Water off the duck's back" I guess. It is more just an interesting sideline to me rather than a topic of frustration.

So, gotta get this place in order and put all the breakable/swallowable things out of reach. Gosh, I wish things were a little more visitor-friendly around here!

You know, Toni, my sil and brother both work and have a nice home, new cars, motorcycles, trailer to haul them and going to the coast all the time to ride them and stay in their time share place. Then there is us, even when we both worked did not have that stuff. Material stuff was not important to us anyways.
Well, since they depended on those two incomes they are in a world of hurt. My bother lost his job that made good money last month because it went bankrupt. So now my sil is worried about paying the bills. She has always had the champgan taste and now it is bitting her in the rear. I say they should start selling stuff and they won't.
I could not believe last night when I was at their house my nephew wanted a hair cut and sil told him to go get one. Well, he needed money for it and my brother says, well we need to cut back and that is one thing. I said, well, don't you still chew. Hair cuts are important, gum cancer is not. Another stupid thing they have done is buying two dogs and I know of one they took a cash advance on the credit card to get it.ugh.
Don't get me wrong, I love them to death but they are really stupid at times.lol!
I am thankful I have my small house, now if I can just get hubby to get off his lazy bum and finish it!

Now, for my day. I just want you to know Toni that you are not alone.
I slept until 11.ugh I had a bad night and finally slept better after hubby left. Too much acid in the tummy.
But I have washed a load of stuff, showered, fed a kid,let dogs outside, about to do dishes and I need to figure out what to have for dinner. I would do pizza but we are low on cheese.

I'm puttin' along at a crawl today. Went back to bed to nurse a headache for a while and it got worse. Finally took a bunch of drugs (otc). Headache is still there, but I don't care as much. lol

Accomplished....with some help from the kids:

-kitchen tidied
-floor swept
-main level bath tidied and wiped down
-living room tidied
-dusted & vacuumed
-returned DH's tux rental. Forgot shoes
-returned DH's shoes

Left to do:

-Get dinner started
-make something for dessert
-upstairs hall and bathroom
-hair and make-up

I have two very ill-behaed children coming tonight...with their mother who doesn't care. That creates a dilemma:

1. Do I take a nap so I don't string them all up by their pigtails or...
2. Scramble to get anything breakable or of value buried in the yard....because they'll find it if it's just put up someplace "out of reach" (like a locked closet in the furthest corner of the house.)?

Thanks Anna! I guess I was writing my post when you posted earlier and I missed them both.

I'm really surprised sil's comments didn't bother me. Usually I'd be fuming over her attitude. What's up with that?? I feel bad for the position they're in, but I won't let her put the blame on us. DH worked hard to get where he is and while he may not be raking in the dough, he has a stable job. That's some place a college education has made a difference.

Yes, I'm happy we've been more frugal although we do have some more work to do in that department! We've had to use the credit cards this spring and summer to pay of all my medical expenses and DS's surgery (ACK! About $10,000). They were really hitting hard, and we were still trying to pay most of them with cash, when the kids went back to school so we bought their school clothes on credit too. I'm sick about it. So, what did I do? Quit my job and cut 10 of my 12 piano students. lol Truthfully, it cauess quite a bit of anxiety for me when I see those bills come. NOTE TO SELF: DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN!

I told DH last night I really wouldn't mind a smaller house....IN A DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOOD!! lol He agreed, but now isn't really the time to try and sell. Because we've been here so long, a much small house would probably cost as much as we paid for this one so financially we wouldn't be any better off. I guess we'll stick here and be happy with what we have....knowing so many people aren't nearly as lucky or as blessed as we have been.

I try to feel sorry for them but, they really make it hard when they have always shoved how much money they made even though they spent it like water.ugh When she whines about not being able to pay the bills I just think, I have been there many times and we have pulled ourselves out of it.
My brother always have to have steak and other nice things and he was not raised that way. Heck, they own five vehicles. I say they need to have a major yard sale.
I am just glad I live like we make 13.00 an hour still instead of the 23.00.
I am thinking of squeazing some money and buy her some dave ramsey books or cds in a hope that she will get something out of them.

Anna good for you for loving what you have and not living with champagne taste on a beer budget.

My sis and bil make a freaking fortune.  Jet off to New Zealand every other year for two months, etc. but then complain they can't pay their taxes.  Duh!!!

I know dh needs another work car and just don't know where we will find the money for that one.  Since he got his new job a few years back the money I now spend on groceries is pathetic!!!  I just don't want to cut back there at the moment cause having to really squeeze by for a number of years am sure enjoying all that nice food...lol.

Aunt Flo came to visit yesterday and I had a really quiet day today.

On the weekend I picked up a few holiday season groceries.  Got the cranberry sauce, both jelled and full berry in this house.  Having forgotten it at Thanksgiving has made me make sure I have it for Christmas!  Also picked up a nice package of those sets of crackers that come out at Christmas time.

I also picked up a really nice new decoration.  It is a polar bear statue.  About the size of two large coffee mugs.  His fur is glittered so he sparkles.  The store had one of those lovely displays with candles, fake snow, etc. and I plan to do something like that either on the mantle of the fireplace downstairs or the kitchen table.  Got a package of the snow too.

Interrogated ds about his Christmas list today and just yacked with him.  Kept poor boy from his homework for about 40 minutes...oh dear, bad Mom.  This week is a killer for him.  Tons and tons of stuff due.

Cute story on the radio news tonight.  One of the NHL hockey players stayed after practice today teaching another guy to fight.  This rookie did not play hockey in any of the leagues where fighting is allowed and is up against the 'big boys' on other teams now.  LOL.  Our hockey player was not actually teaching him how to fight...but was teaching himself how to not get killed if another guy fights him.  Thought that was sweet.  The rookie says if he's ever in a fight he will get creamed but now he has some tips on how to defend himself and not get his jersey pulled over his head and put him in a vunerable position.

Made stamping plans with a girlfriend for Monday. That means the house needs a really good going over before then!

Sounds like you had a great weekend Gina!

Sorry you missed the craft sale, know how you enjoy that each year.

Got the bathroom toilet, sink and counter deep cleaned today.  Boy those men of mine sure are making a mess in there lately!!!

Hope that headache is gone now Toni.  I lay down after supper and dh just woke me up coming to bed.  Had to get up to turn the dishwasher on and take meds.  He actually made his morning coffee which just about gave me a heart attack - he never does.  Poor dh has been fighting a bug all last week and just about died on the weekend.  We hung around in our pajamas most of the day.

Sorry to hear your house will have to withstand ill behaved children tonight.  Hope it survives!

Hope you feel better too Anna...

Gina, what happened with your Dad today?

Are only Gina, Anna and myself exchanging Christmas cards this year???

Sorry to hear about the deer damage to dh's vehicle Gina.  There are a plethoria of deer this year up here too.

Thanks for asking, Freckles! Fun NHL story!

I'd LOVE to do the card exchange, BUT I'm a retard. lol SERIOUSLY!! I know it's something I'd either obsess over until they looked perfect enough for you or I'd totally SHE it. The latter tending to be my most likely method. Heck, I can't even get stinkin' store bought cards out to my family. So, I decided to not even give myself the pressure and spare us all the disappointment......cuz I LOVE you guys! I hope you understand and don't think I'm just avoiding you.

Dinner went well. House really wasn't as bad as I thought....prior to the visit. Just cluttered. With the kids help it looked pretty good. Mom always said, "Many hands make light work." The girls tore apart my kids' bedrooms and living room, but I made them all help get the LR done before they left. SIL also said 4mo will only fall asleep in his bed. Well, my family doesn't call me the baby whisperer for nothing. :)

Did I miss the deer account? UGH! DH hit one in our car after we'd only had it three months. Replaced the bumper & bug shield. I was glad he was in the suburban or it'd ended up in his lap. They can be dangerous animals! I hope everything is OK for you!! Our winter was so hard last year they're predicting a lot fewer on the roads this year. HOorAY! I know the deer hunt was a HUGE disappointment to many.

Headache still clinging. I go to my homeopath today so I'll bug him about it.
