Microwaving plastic with food means you are essentially radiating a petroleum products that can leach into your food. Solution: only microwave food in ceramic or glassware.

Anna I do this for all foods except water...
 
Which everyone we know has warned us not to microwave it in glass...
 
 
Now we use an electric kettle usually but in those times when one must microwave what is the best thing to do?

I have boiled water in the microwave in a glass measuring cup. I just wait alittle bit before I pull it out and make sure my face is not close to it.
But since we got the water cooler it has hot water too so we do not need to heat water in the microwave anymore.
