Just wondering if anyone needs to do one of their kids rooms?? Well, noahs needs some decluttering done, but basically his room is ok.. when he left it in such a mess yesterday.. I didn't know what to think.. He just hardly does that.. well, I told him this a.m. that it HAD to be done before dad came home.. well, the good boy that he is... & I think he's Type A personality....geez... anyhow, he went in & had his room all picked back up, everything back where it belongs.... but there are things we can either find somewhere else for or pitch it or sell it... so that isn't the room I need to get after... its........

DD'S 15 yo... everytime I mention helping her... NO I can do it myself... well, needless to say, it don't ever really get done.. she makes a stab at it & when her dad gets really ticked off.. she'll go up & have it presentable... but it always finds its way back to a huge chaotic mess.....uggggh... I'm so sick of dh ever so often after her "do I need to go look at your room"? "Is that room cleaned up?" WEll, if it's not you're not this or that. then she's mad & I'm stuck in the middle... so... I've got the rest of the house pretty much cleaned up... so... gonna go start on her room tomorrow after I get back from dottys & angies... just wondering if I'll have any company on this challenge?????? YIKES!!!!!! flinger

I need to do Stephanie's room AGAIN-lol. I had it all done this summer and most of it is still pretty organized  The closet is okay - I just need to pick up a few things in there. Most the time she can clean up herself in about 15 minutes (with a little prodding-lol) but the BARBIE stuff is out of control. This last summer I bought several storage things for her room but they have ended up working better for art/craft supplies and a bookcase. So now the barbie stuff is in a pile and she has alot of it. Little itty bitty piece's up to big furniture plus about 30 large barbies and about 20 kelly dolls.  Now she is starting to collect My Scene Dolls and she has about 6 of those.  I really need to get it all organized again.
I'll join you.

Kimberly

Kim and Flinger,
Hey there,
How come it seems that the kids rooms are a neverending project? I have to get the big dresser out of the girls rooms. They are now using those three drawer white plastic dressers from Walmart. I painted one of them the same colors as their rooms. But I have to get the big dresser and the mirror on top out of there. I am moving just the dresser downstairs to put in my dining room and it will fit there perfect.
Anyways, yes I will be working on the kids rooms tomorrow and the weekend.

Nala - Yes - the kid bedrooms are a neverending project. You think you have it all organized and it looks great and then the minute you turn your attention to another part of the house (and your child comes home from school-lol) the bedroom ends up a mess again.

Freckles - ROFL! Hmmmm- not a bad idea- run and not look back-lol.

Flinger - What if we worked on it next week?

That sounds fine to me... dh will be off Mon.~Tues.~Wed...then back to work on 2nds Thurs... but I can start on Monday.... BUT the funny thing is..... yesterday dd had a cousin of hers which is a senior in high school... but she called wanting to know if kelcie could go to the movies with her & to eat out in Harrisburg which is like 30 ~45 minutes away depending on weather... well Kayla was gonna meet her boyfriend up there since he works in Marion instead of him coming all the way down here to pick her up, but anyhow. they were gonna go eat out & then on to the movies... well, I told kelcie that her dad prob. wouldn't let her with the weather so cold, etc.... & I said PLUS what's the first thing he'll ask you.... Is that room cleaned up, etc... she went up there in approx. 30 minutes had it picked up....I'm not saying perfect by no means., but there are still lots of clothes to put away, etc.. boxes of stuff to go thru, but her movies are all pa, all the clothes are together, just laying on 2 chairs she has up there, but the dresser is cleaned off, except what she wants up there.... so basically all I'm gonna have to do is kinda sort thru things.... & I may even have her here to help me... because we are suppose to get icky weather sunday nite/monday & then again on Thursday they say a big winter storm front is coming thru... so.... anyhow... I'll be ready to get after it....flinger

Here's what I've learned...it's far easier for me to clean their junk than for me to clean mine!  I figure if I help them learn to purge/pitch more frequently then perhaps they'll not face such difficulties when they're my age.  My kids are 7, 3 1/2, and 15 months.  I try to get in each room every 2 to 4 weeks, so that means I'm doing one room every week or every other week.  So far, my oldest is really starting to get the hang of it.  Not only will he be MUCH more liberal about getting rid of things, but he's more likely to part ways with his belongings if we're donating it to the women & children's shelter.  Now, in all honesty, sometimes it's more like 2 months between sessions...but we're getting better.   Also, the more we do it the easier it is the next time!

patty- my dd is now 17 going on 18... she had been talking to a guy that she met from across the river in ky.. well, her & friend, kelly go over & shop, eat & of course talk w/ the boys, so me & dh have been on to her about her room soooooo much you get to the point you wanna scream.. well.. dh has had it. she kept asking about going to see daniel yesterday, well, he ask if her room was where he could go look @ it or if she still needed to work on it?! she said never mind.. so needless to say, if she don't get it cleaned & KEEP it that way, she don't go anywhere but work & school, unless she's with us.. so.. I guess we're mean parents, but enuf is enuf.. if you don't stick to it, it'll never happen.. lol..anyhow, she brought down 8-10 big 33 gal. black garbage bags of junk to set out for trash man today plus my basement is absolutely FULL of clothes to be washed, this is blankets/ sheets/ throws/ quilts on top of her clothes she is finding under all the mess.. OMGosh.. it's like a nitemare.. hang in there patty,

although I am gonna work in noahs room some this week.. so I'll join you in that.. have a wonderful day.. gina

Well ds got new electronic equipment and dh made him a piece of furniture to put them on so I had better think about his room.

You ladies are too fast for me. Real life doesn’t start here until ds goes back to school NEXT week.
