I was having a conversation with a 'Christian' friend this evening, about how the Church (in her case CofE) views same sex relationships. She says, her interpretation is that god does not allow or approve of 'sins', but is forgiving of 'sinners'. (sins and sinners being same sex people and actions in this instance). What are you views? Are you a Christian? Are you ok about same sex relationships?

Wouldn't it be more of a sin to be intolerant of one another's beliefs and judge them as wicked and committing a sin.  Is intolerance and judging others more of a sin?  When you love someone, you love them.  Period.

I'll answer your last question first I am definitely a Christian.

The problem with these same-sex crowd is that they started with a legitimate grievance..... inequality. But once they achieve equality they start demanding to be more than equal whenever they do not get what they want they blame the church or Christianity for oppressing them.

I like to think of myself as a very tolerant person, I really have no problems with this same-sex phenomenal. In recent years it has been the flavor of the month something for all of the special-interest groups to champion, but if history teaches us anything it will only be a matter of time before there's a new downtrodden group that must be rescued. Once that happens to same-sex phenomenal will disappear.

Three quotes : -

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you (Matthew 7:12).?/FONT>

Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people. - Karl Marx (the least funny of the Marx brothers)

and

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

I have no real religious beliefs but I think it wrong that anyone should be able to dictate how someone else lives there life. If its between consenting adults, and no one is getting hurt, then whatever gets you thru the day is ok by me - love is a very precious thing, and should be cherished where ever its found - homosexual, bisexual, whatever, its all good

I'm pretty sure we could play the religious quote game from now until eternity, religious texts like the Bible can easily be twisted to justify anyone's actions. Without searching very far I came up with the following quote "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination" If we were to follow the exact text of the Bible the offenders parties penalty would be a very painful death.

Reading your last paragraph is seems that you are a very loving person, I'm curious  does your loving attitude extent of those performing bestiality or those involved in incestual relationships??

I realize that I'm getting pretty for off the topic but the point I'm making is once you start down the slippery slope then the doors opened to every perversion known to man.  Once same-sex relationships become the normal in the land it will would be a matter of time before other fringe groups clamor for rights to perform their own style of lovemaking.

Admittedly what we have now is far from perfect but if I'm not mistaken the main purpose of men and women having sex was to reproduce. Thankfully mankind has seen to it that reproduction is still something only done between different sexes.

My personal opinion is that as long as its between consenting, willing adults and within the law - why not?

Ummm, traveller....

Actually, I suspect that the vast majority of acts of love are now NOT procreative....

I've had two kids, but made love rather more times than that.....

Abusive relationships of all types....

These are, I feel, rather different than those acts between two consenting adults....

(Ok, or more than two)

It is terribly easy for one person person to judge another, but benefits no one....

I will admit to a vested interest.

My daughter is gay.

However. She is who she is, not for my or anyone elses approval.

But because of whom she is.

I respect your right to your opinion, and indeed that rational way in which you express it. However, if my daughter or indeed myself are to be judged, it will be by a higher order than on this plane.

I genuinely believe that my girl will be judged on far more than her partner in bed.
