And lets be honest, us Brits were settling in and colonising all corners of the globe in the name of Empire, long before the word immigration was even thought up.

to a certain extent enoch was right,
i agree with Star and Steve about the britts colonising everywhere,
a lot of europeans came here just after WW2, they fought alongside our troops to defeat an evil, my Dad was one of these people, most of them became british natural citizens, and swore an oath to this country,

i'm wondering if the Govt. are right to try and get the people of this country to use ID cards, with all the illegals here ( seems to be quit a few) terrorist's teaching others the fine art of bomb making, taking our jobs etc. i'd carry one cos i havnt done anything wrong, and if it helped in some way to stop the illegals and terrorists comming here then bring the cards on,

I, too would have no problems with an id card, although I think that HMG need to sort out what it would be for....

I remember as a kid, that Enoch was actually one of those ministers who encouraged people to come across from the Carribean, to help with the labour shortage....

In all honesty, this country has always had it's incomers, and generally, they are a welcome addition to our society...

Debate about this subject though, has been rather lost, because of the people carrying out the debate... I would not want to be associated with some of the nut jobs carrying out the debate....
