Part 2
Walking onwards I reflected on my journey here. The weather had been good and the traffic light. It had taken me just over 5 hour and that included a stop for coffee. Oh the vital coffee.
I was brought out of my thoughts by an old man standing in the doorway of Dukes Bistro. He looked at me in a strange way and I couldn't help thinking that I had seen him somewhere before. Maybe I was imagining it.
The wind had picked up now and was whistling around the streets. I immediately thought of the men on that little boat I had seen leaving the harbour. Rather them than me I said to myself for the second time.
I reached the High Street and waited outside Grace Pattersons. I was slightly too early. The proprietor had said she would do mine first thing. I didn't have to wait long. Within minutes of her opening up, she had prepared my collection and I had settled up. I left and walked back down the High Street. I must have looked a little strange. It's not often than one sees a man walking down the road in the freezing cold with a bunch of flowers, at that time of the morning.
As I walked down the street I started thinking of how this had all begun. How something so unlikely could have lead to something so......well.....where would it lead I wondered?
I got to the Webster Theatre and stood waiting in the doorway. This all seemed so unlikely. I turned around and noticed that there was a Ben Elton production on. I though maybe we might see that...but then again...maybe not.
The due time we were to meet came and went. Never one to get too concerned about peoples timekeeing I waited....and waited....I had come to far to worry. Then just 10 minutes late, from around the corner, I saw her. She was hurrying towards me, well tucked away from the cold inside her coat, scarf and hat. She stopped in front of me and we just stood there smiling at each other for what seemed an eternity but was probably only a couple of seconds.
