Home Health
Houston County Health Department provides home health care services to Alabama residents of Houston, Henry, and Dale counties who meet eligibility requirements. This Agency is a Medicare/Medicaid certified provider for home health care. The home health team provides professional care on an intermittent part-time basis in the privacy of the home to acutely and/or chronically ill individuals. Several treatments can now be provided in the home that were previously limited to the hospital setting.

Life Care
Houston County Health Department is a direct service provider of care in the homes of Houston, Henry, and Dale county residents. Life Care services are provided under contract for many specialized Federal and State funded programs for the disabled, poor and elderly. Life Care services may also be purchased by individuals through an Options Program.

Life Care Services Offered
- Homemaker Services include light housekeeping, meal preparation, and running errands to purchase groceries, medicine and medical supplies.
- Companion Services include engaging the patient in conversation and other stimulating activities appropriate for the patient's level of physical and mental health.
- Nursing Services are provided as agreed upon and ordered by a physician to restore, maintain and promote the health status of patients through home support.
- Personal Care Services include assistance with eating, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Skilled and Unskilled Respite Services consist of short term care provided to individuals unable to care for themselves in the absence of their primary caregiver.
Eligibility
Reimbursement for Life Care Services may be provided by various agencies such as Elderly and Disabled Medicaid Waiver, Alabama Head Injury Foundation, Title XX, Options I/Options II, Title III, and Alabama Cares Services.
