    Some pharmaceutical companies offer medication assistance programs to low-income individuals and families. These programs typically require a doctor’s consent and proof of financial status. They may also require that you have either no health insurance, or no prescription drug benefit through your health insurance. Please contact the pharmaceutical company directly for specific eligibility requirements and application information.

    The program, called GSK Access, offers free prescription medicines to eligible patients enrolled in Medicare Part D.

    Glaxo said the Web site provides details on eligibility, income requirements and a list of its drugs that are included in the program. Individuals can also download an application form from the site to enroll, or call the toll-free number.

    www.accesstobenefits.org is a website with information on many programs to help seniors and people with disabilities reduce their prescription drug costs. The site is sponsored by a coalition of organizations serving Medicare beneficiaries. These programs offer the most help if you don’t have other prescription drug coverage and if your income is limited.
