Please print this terrific brochure <http://www.rsds. org/4/resources/ pdf/hospital% 20protocol_ bw.pdf> and carry it around with you, especially to doctors' offices and hospitals. It's bigger than a MedAlert bracelet but a lot more useful. If you encounter the police, ambulance, and hospital ED personnel and if you have this with you it will avoid a lot of the trauma that worsens RSD: - NEEDLES - botched and repeated needlesticks in RSD-affected areas, IVs STRESS - conflicts accusations and arguments by health"care" providers that increase stress (and therefore pain) - SENSITIVITY - Do Not Touch!! unnecessary physican exams, undressing, touching, noise, and light - TEMPERATURE heat and cold - ice
It's called Hospital Protocol RSD/CRPS Patient: Handle With Care!<http://www.rsds. org/4/resources/ pdf/hospital% 20protocol_ bw.pdf>
It is relevant to all health care settings, not just hospitals. I highly recommend it and thanks to RSDSA <http://www.rsds. org/index2. html> for publishing it.
