I have been looking for ways to cut the budget. With me taking a medical leave of absence right now we need to cut everything from the budget that we can. We spend about $570 a month on prescriptions! An that is with insurance. Outrageous I know. Anyway, I went on-line and looked up every medication we take that is not generic which is only a $5 co-pay. Formulary meds are $30 and Non-formulary meds are $50 copays. Anyway if you type the drug name (trade name) .com you can usually find it. If not do a search and you can usually get the official site. When you get to the site look and see if they have a rewards program that offer rebates of coupons for $ off. Most of them do. You may have to do a little searching but usually you can find it pretty easily. For example, one of the medications my husband takes is Singulair for allergies. It is a $30 copay. They have a $10 off coupon that you can print up and take to the pharmacy every time you get the prescription filled as long as you don't do it more than once every 30 days. My son uses Topamax for migraines. It is a $50 copay. They have a program where you can get a supply of 42 pills free (a 21 day supply). They also have a special card that gives you $25 off the next three prescriptions. Duragesic patches have a coupon you can print for $20 off. You can use one a month. Lamictal has a $10 off coupon for every month for 6 months. You can get a 2 week supply of cymbalta for free. There are tons of programs out there. Anyway, through the programs I was able to cut our prescription cost from $570 a month to$285 to $300 a month for the next 4 months. I also applied for $65 in one time rebates. The only exceptions to these programs are you are not eligible if you receive Medicare/Medicaid or if you live in Mass. and have a third-party payer (like insurance). I know all of us are on a multitude of meds trying to find the perfect combination out there to keep our pain at bay and the drug companies want you to use their medications and offer incentives to consumers. Some of them will even send you postage paid envelopes to send for rebates (Zyrtec). I hope this helps someone out there. If you have trouble finding programs just post your meds (NO DOSES PLEASE JUST THE DRUG NAME) and I will help see if I can find a program for you.
