Many of you know Catie and her wonderful Italian greyhound Devon. He recently became ill and all efforts to make him well were unsuccessful. Devon passed on Sat, 28 Jun 2008. Catie has shared many wonderful stories about her and Devon on the message boards and thought everyone here should know. Please keep Catie in your thoughts. |

Our pet dog is always on our side even when nobody else is. Of all the pets I ever owned, the dogs were the most loving and the most comfort to me. They are truly a member of the family and it is always hard to lose them. I know Devon brought you great joy. |

Catie, Our hearts break for you about your loss of Devon. We lost our Chrissy on Memorial Day due to renal failure, so we too are grieving. Let us know if we can be of any comfort. Judy and Wally |

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and healing words. (...and lovely flowers!) I know that the day will come when his name will bring a smile to my lips and laughter to my heart, but not just yet. How often I've said that the measure of grief is the mesure of love. How full then was the measuring cup of my love for this tiny excuse for a Greyhound, adorable broken tail and all. Judy & Wally, I hope that Chrissy has found the Grey Pac and is romping with them. I'm sure that just as I do, you still turn you head, knowing that if you look quickly enough, you will see her there, just out of sight. Bless all of the four legged angels that allow us to live with them for the short time they are able to stay away from the fields at the bridge where they patrol to be sure that no one who abuses the weak, of two or four legs, is allowed to cross. |

Thank you all so very much! It's something that most of us have had to deal with, but it doesn't ever get easier, does it? I keep stepping over him and then almost tripping when I realize what I'm doing............and there he isn't when I open the door as I come into the house........or when I turn over carefully in bed.........they are every where and then we realize that they are no where.......little by little we begin to adjust to their physical loss, it's the emotional loss that keeps hitting us below the belt............but, as I keep reminding all of us, one day the tears will become tears of laughter remembering the silliness along with the love. |
