Hi All! New to the HK board - I have about 15 HK pieces (all owls) so far. My entire owl collection is in excess of 600 pieces. I found a pile of owls marked "Animal Antics" I thought might be HK and I did find a piece marked "Animal Antics", that looks like "Rats on Corn Sack" but Catherine Leicester, Martin Perry Studios just told me it's counterfeit : (. I'll hang on to it just the same. If anyone has any information about this "AA" line or company I would appreciate it. I am looking for "Helen the Owl" if anyone has an idea where I might find it - I can't afford to pay a fortune for it - but something reasonable. I'd appreciate any leads. Thanks! Happy Collecting! Pam found a copy of Rats on a Corn Sack as a box....looks like a cast of a cast of a cast....from the pictures that she sent, it looks like 4th or 5th generation. This is the first one I've seen that was cast as a box rather than a solid. Anyone out there ever come across one? It's also the first one I've seen marked "Animal Antics". I have to wonder if we are going to see another batch coming down the line. No one at MPS remembers ever seeing the AA brand either. At any rate, welcome Pam. You'll find this board full of greyt people more than willing to share their HK knowledge. Good luck on the Helen hunt...every once in while she will show up on eBay, so keep checking. Hi Pam, et all, I've just been informed by Bern wearing her 4C hat that SIAB made the Rats In a Sack into a box. So it wasn't a part of the counterfeit mess after all. Apparently since it wasn't copyrighted they were able to copy it, along with quite a few other of the oriental pile pieces. Now that she mentions it, I do remember that there was quite a brew ha ha about it at the time, but there was nothing illegal about it. I did not know that they ever used the Animal Antics name, thought that they always used their SIAB name. Live and learn in this business...Sorry for the mis-information. |

Catie, Great to know it's not worthless after all - and I'd hate to get caught up in a brew-ha-ha. I'll keep them on the shelf and keep looking for other owls. Thanks!! Pam |
