HI SPIRIT,

BACK WHEN I WAS USING ALL THE TIME, I WAS GOING TO A WEDDING....SO I MET THE REGULAR DEALER AND EVERYTHING WAS GOING RIGHT ON.

THEN I DID IT BEFORE I GOT IN THE SHOWER....AND OH MY GOD!!!!  IT WAS LIKE NOTHING I EVER PUT INTO MY BODY BEFORE.  MY BLOOD HEATED UP AND I TURNED RED AS A LOBSTER AND MY HEART STARTED SKIPPING BEATS....THERE IRONICALLY WAS NO HIGH INVOLVED EITHER.

I WAS PETRIFIED!!!!  I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE FOR SURE.  SO I TOOK A LONG SHOWER AND I REMEMBER PRAYING TO NOT LET ME DIE IN THE SHOWER WITH EVERONE AROUND.....I FELT LIKE TOTAL SHIT FOR THE REST OF THE DAY/EVENING.......

IT WAS VERY SCARY.  SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY FRIEND AROUND THE SAME TIME!!!!!  HE TOLD ME HE TURNED RED LIKE A REAL LOBSTER!!!!  YIKES

GLAD YOUR FEELING BETTER,

LOVE
BETH

that exact same thing happened to me.. actually just a few weeks ago.  There was a big bust here.. i think 1.2 million dollar heroin bust about 3 weeks ago and I KNEW there was going to be a lot of crap on the street because the supply was so low, but  took my chances.....and

it was horrible.  Now, I am typically a careful user. Even when I buy from my regular guy, I always just do one bag alone first... .just to make sure it isn't too strong or just bad shit, but for some reason, that day I didn't do that. Not only did I buy from someone I didn't know, I did 3 bags at once and the same thing happened to me.. I was bright red, my heart was pounding and irregular.  The freaky thing was that when I looked down at my chest, I could actually see my shirt MOVING in time with my heartbeat.. my heart was pounding so hard, you could SEE it

I was so damn sick and it literally lasted for hours... 14 hours to be exact. My chest hurt, my head hurt...I thought my number was up for a little while.

I looked all over the internet to see if I could figure out what the hell it was, but I couldn't find anything useful.

I can't say enough about "harm reduction".  I mean, obviously, any time you use, you are taking a big risk, but there are ways to be safer.  I have a few tips for anyone who happens to read this and is interested, but I am sure there are many people here who have additional, useful tips as well.

  • always do a "tester" amount first...never a normal dose, just to be sure what you have is heroin and not something else.  This also allows you to judge the purity of the drug
  • while many people DON'T do this these days anymore for some reason...go old school and ALWAYS use a filter of some sort.  I had a friend nearly lose an arm because she shot fiberglass into her arm and didn't filter the dope through cotton.
  • as much as possible, try to find a reliable dealer who typically has the same cut.  While you can never trust a drug dealer, some are better than others.  I pretty much know what I am getting each time and when my dealer gets a supply from someone he doesn't work with, he always tells me.
  • Don't use old needles. A girl I lived with at a halfway house actually had a needle break off in her arm.. it was a couple weeks old and simply fell apart
  • If possible, use sterile water....which is next to impossible all the time.  Even bottled water is better than tap though
  • Always clean your needles well, even if you don't share them... bacteria can live on the needles and can make you sick
  • Always clean the area on your skin where you inject prior to doing so.

Ok.. wow, went off on a tanget there... but who knows.. maybe someone will come across this post and find it useful.

Summer, that was good stuff.  Thanks.

I know a few people who had the point break off while shooting up.  This one guy showed me where it was inside his arm.....so strange.    I would always wonder if the needle would move around.  Sounds pretty damn dangerous!

I remember using snow for water.  We didn't have any more money to go buy a bottle of water, it was winter, and there was snow, so we figured what the heck.   Just made sure it wasn't yellow.   hehheh.   God, it's a wonder I'm still alive when I remember some of the stuff I did regarding shooting up.

The thing is, always try to be as clean as you can with everything.   Wash your hands, use new, clean works, make sure your cooker is clean.   Etc. etc.

A long time ago I knew this girl who got a blood deasease from using a dirty cooker.    She used to use the same old cotton and spoon because she didn't want to waste the tiny bit of residue drugs that may have been left from the time before.

Another time I remember me, my sister, my best friend and her sister, we were all done shooting up and I started cleaning up.    I gathered all the spoons and washed them.  Tony, my girl friends sister almost had a heart attack and I thought she was gonna kill me because she wanted her spoon so she could do the wash, and I told her I already cleaned everything up.   (we were in my parents house and my mom could've walked in any minute) She ran to the sink, started digging around the garbage collector in the kitchen sick, you know, that little thing in the drain that will catch garbage so it wont go down the drain,  and she found the little piece of cotton that was in a spoon amoung all this garbage, and acually started to try and suck drugs from it!  DIRTY!    YUCK!
Both her, and her sister (my best friend) are dead now.  Matter of fact so is my sister.   All those people are dead except me.

ahhhh yes, memories.

luv,sue

HEY SUMMER,

I WONDER WHAT THE HELL THAT WAS!!!!!  MAN HOW SCARY WAS THAT?  I WAS AFRAID TO USE FOR A WHILE AFTER THAT INCIDENT!
GOOD INFO ON HARM REDUCTION.  HERE IN MA YOU CAN GET NEEDLES RIGHT AT THE PHARMACY NOW.  THIS STARTED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO OR SO.  NO QUESTIONS ASKED.  I USED TO GO TO THE NEEDLE EXCHANGE....BUT THAT WAS A HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS.  MANY TIMES I USED WORKS AS SHARP AS DULL FORKS WITH FISHHOOKS AT THE ENDS OF THEM!!!!  IT WAS THE WORST!

HI SUE,

YA...SOME PEOPLE REALLY LOVE THEIR COTTON!!!!!  I USED TO SAVE ALL MINE UP AND IF TOTALLY DESPARATE..ID PUT THEM ALL IN A LITTLE CAP SATURATE THEM WITH WATER AND PUSH THEM DOWN HARD WITH THE CAP OF A PEN, AND SUCK UP THE ICKY WATER LEFT BEHIND......GOOD RESULTS IF YOU HAD ENOUGH..BUT PRETTY NASTY!  COTTON FEVER SUCKS.

LOVE YA
BETH

I once went to a chemist to get a fit pack - comes with the syringes, alcohol wipes & little things of water - the guy at the chemist, youngish asked what we put in them.
We laughed!!!

yeah, i used to save my cottons too, religiously, until I got cotton fever so badly, I wanted to die.  GOD, i was sick as hell.  Now, I am scared to save the darn things.  I throw 'em out...

This thread, in a sick sorta way, made me laugh, because honestly, I always think I am the only person who does certain things.. then I read someone's post and realize how many similarities there are..

I am the WORST about cleaning my cooker.. I always think I am losing something somehow. We have also cooked and injected Oxy...and man, what a mess that makes. Even though I know it is risky, I have cooked and recooked and recooked the residue like 5 times, so I don't "waste" any.. stupid stuff

I used to use my old cotton and save the wash and all that until one day I realized that how high can I possibly get with the little residue that was in there?!     I mean, what, maybe .5 of a second buzz?    Would it even make a differance?  NO!
So, I quit doing it.
BUT I can totally understand the thing of doing it.  Habits, it's all part of the habit/addiction.
luv,
sue
