I already filled one of these out, so I am doing this again only under protest! Okay, Jewel? I am rapidly advancing into my late 40s, and have been "clean" in N.A. since late 1994. Before that, I shot dope off and on for about a quarter century. Though I really miss getting high (and not just on heroin), I don't at all miss what had become for me a grim and unsupportable burden: carrying my habit(s). Recovery is hard, but not as hard as using came to be for me. I collect books on drugs--and now have some 2,000 titles, including quite a few that are very rare--and I am a freelance journalist who writes mostly (but not exclusively) about drugs and drug policy. (I covered national security policy for a wonky policy magazine here in D.C. for about ten years, going freelance five years ago.) I've just started a home bakery business and we'll see how that goes (probably badly). My two cats are completely insane, but I've been taking Prozac so I'm saner than I've ever been before. And that's not a bad feeling.
