I'm DebbeJ's 23 year old daughter. I've been on my clinic for about 2 years. During that time I have gained almost 70 pounds. I spent a year and a half on 80mlg. Now I'm at 65mlg. My question is, as I continue to decrease will the weight come off?

I gained alot too, Debbie..After I detoxed completely I noticed my weight drop....it may have begin during the detox process, but I don't recall noticing the difference until it was done.

Amazing how some people don't seem to gain alot, but I did

Thanks Curio. By the way, I'm Debbie's daughter Gin. So far, I'm detoxing slow-- 5mlg a month. I don't want to get sick and have my disease tell me to get high. I pray that the weight I've gained will come off after decreasing my meth because that's a whole other problem within itself. Let me know if you have any positive comments about detoxing off meth and staying clean afterwards.

Hi Gin...I know that for me it was really important to surround myself with other people that were doing the same thing I was..or at least people that would support me in doing it.

Glad to hear you are going slowly, cause not only are you detoxing physically, but mentally as well. The mental obsession was something that I had to get alot of support with.

Be careful who you surround yourself with. I know that "using Friends" were always a trigger for me. Not everyone is on board with you when you are trying to change your life...and it's a scary place to be sometimes.

I attended NA while I was detoxing and just listened to the people there that were staying clean....and I learned how to ask for help.

Please be gentle with yourself and don't get discouraged...the weight will come off. I was depressed over that...for sure...but it's only surface stuff and will happen when it's time.

The important thing to remember is you are important, you are worthwhile and you are necessary...because you're YOU! You deserve this life and all it has to offer..never forget that.

I'll be heere for you!

Hi y'all.  I'm curious why methadone would cause weight gain.  I thought it was just quitting using, especially coke, that made me gain a little weight again when I started maintenance, as opposed to looking like I was going to die of starvation like I did before.  I remember people seeing me and how skinny I was and looking really worried.

Good luck Gin.
