I believe you are referring to the heart of the 12 Traditions of NA...The traditions are the ties that bind us together protecting us from all internal and external forces and if not followed would destroy NA...The line you refer to is paraphrased within our literature...I have seen instances within AA and NA where the traditions were not followed and the results did tear apart...Keep the Faith,,,,FC
