I strongly believe that the coming AntiChrist will be either Geraldo Rivera or Britney Spears....!!! I knew the End Times were near when 50 Cent became an icon & Rap was called music! (maybe bad poetry--but NEVER music!)--Sorry Rappers--I tried very hard to be musically openminded & I have a very wide variety of music that I love & appreciate--Blues, R&B, Rock, Jazz, True Alternate music, Classical, Reggae, Punk, New Wave, & even some Metal--but I gotta draw the line at Rap! Although I have caught myself tapping along to an Eminem tune............& Shania is a Doll!(so that excuses C&W music--just kidden--some of todays hottest studio musicians, particularly guitarists, are found in the C&W arena)....More later if the world doesn't end!! |

I don't believe in the whole end of times thing- I do appreciate your humor, Indigo. But gotta say that I've come to enjoy rap, never thought about whether it's actually music or not- interesting question.
But back to the end times, I just don't get the whole thing. I've read some about it but am pretty ignorant. I do know they have a similar concept in Islam. As I understand it in Christianity- those who've accepted Jesus as their savior will be "saved" somehow at the end times. I just can't buy into the idea that the 75 percent or whatever percent of the world's population that aren't Christians, many who've never even heard of Christianity and therefore had no chance to accept Christ are going to suffer for all eternity because they happened to be born in another culture.
I remember once in a rehab, there was a kid there, it was family night and the kids parents were my age. The parents were very concerned that their kid was going to go to hell for things he'd done as an addict. The counselor said "is there anything your son could ever do that would make you want to punish him, make him suffer, for all eternity? The parents answered "of course not." So the counselor asked why they would believe that god would love his children any less than they love their child.
I don't even know if I believe in god, but I thought it was such a great answer, it's really stuck with me. I mean think about that- making someone suffer for all of eternity for what they did in this short little period of time called our lives that we live on this little planet. If there is a god and he's a loving god, he wouldn't be able to make anyone suffer for all eternity.
Or would he?

"The End of Times" theme has been around for thousands of years--there are many versions among the many religions & cultures---Many "END DATES" have come & gone without any fireworks or Paradise/Hell to show for them.--It would be a nice & tidy end to a storey but unfortunately real life doesn't follow these types of scripts..---People need to believe that there is "fairness" in a universe guided by a God---Even though this theory is disproven daily in starvations of children, Concentration Camps, Armenian genocides, Pol Pot, Sadaam , Tsunamis etc etc--There is no direct correlation between leading a righteous life & being guaranteed safety from some heinous consequence, yet people still want to believe that there is some mysterious religious explaination that is simply beyond the mere mortal capacity of human understanding. I very much prefer the language & flavour of Spirituality as opposed to religion as layed out through human dogma, & very much reliant on "Blind Faith". Religions seperate humans from one another in a tribal fashion, whereas "Spirituality" unites humans through common humanity..... |

OH NO, not a pop-country apologist!! You may have to send me your address so I can mail of the modern-day outlaw stuff.
I started another thread about my road trip this weekend. III is VERY
anti-pop country, corporate Nashville even though he lives there. I
will agree with you on some of the studio musicians however.
