Hello hey its sinkingbright here and I've been going up and down in my live some days are so great and other's suck. But lately I've been having dreams I'd like to call them warning dreams, the reason why i say that is because in my dreams its me and the problems that I need to deal with. In my dreams it's like it puts all the parties involved in the mess and it lay's it out in the dream the right way to go about it so that when i wakeup i think about dealing with it the way i dreamed it. I hope iam not confusing anyone, but ya i have been having alot of these dreams. and when I deal with the problems the right way i win. so its freaking me out,but iam so happy that i can read my dreams.has anyone else had this dream thing ? also today I pick out a primary doctor and I had appointment at 3oclock and lately I've been having some problems with my heart beating funny and when my heart starts running faster i can not catch my breath so i told my doctor this and he said that I might have Thyroid problems, and so he took some blood to find out and when the nurse was looking for a vein well there was not much of my veins felt,i started to feel sad cause i knew i did that to my slef,so the nurse had to take the blood from my hand. so intill the doctor knows forsure the doctor wants me to take LORAZEPAM but i know of this medicine and i dont plan on being on it long. I hope the doctors find out whats up with me and get me the right medicine. I will not miss use this medicine i plan taking it as it is precirbed. so do any of you have messed up heart beat's? and can not catch your breat ? i feel funny about asking about panick attacks. friends | | |

SB,
You
should not feel funny about anything that they may be going on with your body
you should have a doctor that you can trust where any topic can be
discussed without embarrassment or shame.
Anxiety or panic attacks are real physical disorders
and can be easily treated. It doesn't mean that you have mental problems so make
sure you read up on the problem and go in and ask every question that needs an
answer.
What you have described sounds like anxiety to a tee
but you always want to rule out your heart even though it probably has nothing
to do with your ticker but you always want to be safe.

Greetings Bright..hope this finds you feeling better. I would agree with Claude that anxiety is a very real possibility here and certainly nothing to be closed or ashamed about. I was shocked when I first had one to find just how many people suffer or have had bouts with panic attacks. Scarey stuff when you don't know what's going on. First thing many of us think is we're having some sort of a heart attack or problem. I did. Mine came in my late 30's and now my man is having them. He fiannly understands what it feels like..very hard to describe to someone who hasn't. They can come out of nowhere..my heart would flutter and be in my throat..sometimes missing a beats too. Often they would happen when I was lieing on my left side. After looking all over the net I came to find a message board of people who described the very or almost..same thing. It seems that there is a heart muscle or valve or something close to the heart that when pressure is put on it (left side only)..it can cause a cutting off of blood maybe and cause the heart to flutter. (I wish I could remember exactly what is is..or find the post)! Will keep looking. Also many many people said how Magnesium helped them enormously. I was so scared the first times I ran right to the drugstore and got Magnesium Sulfate pills..the ones that crumble easily to the touch and took them. Now whether it was in my head or whether I really was lacking in Magnesium (they say 90 to 95% of us are)..I don't know for sure..but I take it every day now. And when I'm late..sure enough I get palpatations..flutters. I also don't lie on my left side anymore..and when I forget and do..not always but often enough to notice...they start again. So for me these tow things have been a life saver for my nerves. I didn'ty hit on them right away..this was after reading alot of posts and stuff..and hitting on posts where people described similar symptoms..and finding what worked for me. There were so many people who said they'd been to so many heart doctor/specialist..were given all sorts of meds from heart pills to hormones to other stuff..and they could not find relief. That's why they were on the message boards looking for help or answers. Yes have a heart docotr do a complte work up first..but when all else fails..we have to look elsewhere. I got lucky. And stress is a funny thing..it's not when we're stressed and nervous that they come out these panic attacks..but when we are relaxed and not worrying about anything. I guess that's because when we are tense the body is full of adrenaline and holds off the attacks..when we are nice and relaxed no adrenaline anywhere, 'BOOM' it hits us. Weird. Smoking..coffee..high fat diet..no exercise all that stuff doesn't help either. But one thing at a time right. Dreams are prophetic of our waking life like you said..and only you know how well your dreams translate to your actual awake times. They're also a way for the mind to dump all the garbage in our day..we don't remember most of them. The unconsious mind knows all..so when it thinks something is important enough to remember it usually pops it into our dreams as a way of trying to problem solve. They do say if you keep having a repetitive dream...it really means there is something you have to resolve once and for all. Recurring dreams tend to reveal our real nature and are usually us trying to recognize hidden problems. They may also give us clues to a solution. Often the setting goes all the way back to childhood or events that happened some time ago. So keep looking for clues for you're asleep and address them in your real life. Once we work it out in our dreams we can often times work it out in real time. We just need to find the courage to do it. All the answers lie within..if only they were easy to figure out. I go through periods of remembering dreams and not remembering them. It's great when you can use them to your advantage like you do Bright..when they speak to you..a great gift really. Sha |

Sinking, Hey girl, What did you find out from the doctor.??? Was the heart thing panic attacks??? Me and my husband both suffered from panic attacks after Gino died. They are really really scarey until you know what they are and can ride thru them. Joe use to get them really bad in the middle of the night. He use to scare the living shit out of me. He would get out of bed in the middle of the night and go for a walk to try to relax and get his heart to stop beating like it is going to pound right out of his chest. Let me know what you found out, OK?? Hugs Karen |

Hi my name is Kristina. Panic attacks. Whoa! To anyone that has ever had them they suck so bad. I have had them all my life but never had the problem addressed until I was old enough to do it myself. Lets see your heart starts to race you get all shaky inside sweaty hands upset stomach and then you feel like your having a heart attack and your going to suffocate. Thats my life. I have been to the dr. they have givin me paxil which made me worse, buspar, helped but didnt prevent the attacks. Other SSRI's and never liked them. I have Valum or Xnax to help doc gave me both. I myself have never been an addict but my and sis were so I'm very cautious. It sounds crazy but talk therepy has work best for me. My doc said, sometimes people who have lived a tough life or experienced a traumatic event or events will end up with a chemical imbalance that was origanilly intended to help you through the tough times and it gets way out of control and there lies the problem. In my case my fight or flight responce is triggered for no reason I know of and I have panic attacks. I even wake out of my sleep having them. I have to talk to myself remind myseld I'm not gonna die, it will pass and I control my breathing and most of the time the go away. If its bad I have to chew the xnax to get relief quickly and let me tell you yuck, those things are awful. There is lots of help out there just dont give up if one thing doesnt work for you. Good luck! Kristina |

H SBright, When I went for a physical for a job the doctor told me I had a fast heart beat and high blood pressure! She also said I had a slight 'tremor' in my hands. I think it was from all the coffee I drank that morning. Surprized me cause I ususally have low blood pressure. But anyway, I have always gained so much wieght on methadone. Does anybody know if there is a medication I can get to stop the wieght gain or get back to my normal wieght? I hate it. And I'm always so hot! I'm always sweating so much and it's so embarassing! Does methadone affect the tyroid? Does it slow down the metabolism? Can anything be done besides quit eating and excercise more? thanx for any info, luv, sue |

Sue,
all opiates
slow down the body's metabolism as it also effects the motility in the gut.
Methadone is like all other medications where each one has it's own side-effects
some are manageable and some may effect a patient to the point where they would
have to come off of that drug and switch to something else. Unfortunately there
is not much of "other drugs" to switch to when the drug effected is
methadone.
As far as dealing with the weight problem it's a
simple solution but difficult to put in practice. When we were running the
streets and abusing our bodies we would eat here and there and not the best
nutritional food at that. So once we get it together as far as getting
stabilized on methadone we have to start working on our minds and change our
behavior and way of thinking but no one looks at our nutritional behavior and it
is never addressed so we probably have the same bad eating habits and we
are putting more calories into our bodies but we are running our bodies on
a slower speed and on top of that our metabolism has slipped into low gear
and no one ever informed us that this may happen.
So we may be taking in 2500 calories but only need
1800 and with constipation hitting the body and allot of times patients who are
in treatment usually have other medical issues tucked away and yes hypothyroid
condition could cause weight gain in some patients.
Methadone is not the only drug that can effect
weight gain, allot of your anti-depressants can cause weight gain and remember
no medication causes direct weight gain, it is either through increased appetite
caused by some meds or a slowing of the metabolism caused by others.
