Suzi, We use to go downtown every year for the fireworks but the last time we went we swore we would never go back.
We drove down to Jefferson and there was a cop in uniform directing traffic into a lot and another man was there taking the money from everyone.
When we went back to get our car the lot we were parked in was locked with a HUGE metal chain and lock,
Come to find out the cop and the man were in cahoots, they parked 100's of cars in a corporate lot and when they filled all the spots and collected everyones money they left, locked up the lot and let us poor saps fend for ourselves.
Joe being the forceful person he is went to the cobo hall center and found a maitenence man with a huge pair of bolt cutter and they cut the chain and we got our car out.
In the meantime the cops came and told us we should never park in a lot without getting a parking permit, if there is NO permit the lot is illegal.
WELL DUH, how the hell are we to know that.
We told them the cops were directing traffic into the lot and he said, that means nothing, if there is NO ticket or permit the lot is illegal.

That was the last fireworks we went down to see and your right, they are amazing...
Sounds like your neighborhood is like mine, the last 4 or 5 nights there has been so many fireworks going off around us we feel like we are in a war zone.
