I would just like to take a minute to introduce myself, my name is Victoria and my member name is Shining Star. My husband Sporty has been very happy with this group. He has allowed me to read some of the discussions that have taken place and I would just like to say a special Thank You to all of you and I hope that you will allow me to learn from you and maybe be there for some of you also. I look forward to chatting with you all very soon. I think this is a very beautiful thing that is working in ways that a lot of you are truly unaware of. You have helped Sporty deal with things during the day when I am at work and unable to be here for him. I try very hard to be understanding and show him just how much he is loved but sometimes there are things that I cannot help him with that only another person who has been where he has can understand. I am here for whoever wants to chat or whatever. I think I will close for now and see where this goes. Again, thank you all for the love and support that you give to each other in an otherwise unforgiving world. At least you all have each other and sometimes that can be the greatest thing. Take care for now and will see you all later... Love, Shining Star

Welcome Shining star,
I welcome you to our loving dysfunctional family and you will find all the support and help that you may need. I'm glad to see that you have chosen to take an active role in sporty's recovery. May God Bless you in your journey.

I am glad to know that I am welcome here... I have felt very alone and sad trying to help Sporty with his ordeals and not really sure how to answer him at times or how to approach certain situations but since he has shown me this web site and I have read many of the posts that are generated from all the kind and loving people who have been there before. It really makes me feel better now to know that I have some where to go for advice. That he has a place to go when I am at work and cannot help him with what is going on at that particular moment. It is a wonderful thing to know that he can go to this web site and post what he is feeling and can chat with others to help him get through this difficult time until I can come home and be there for him. He has talked about you all so much that I feel like I know most of you already and since I have read many of your posts, I feel like I can relate to you  through Sporty. I will close for now and hope to hear from all of you. Again, thank you all for all the love and support you give to each and every one who has been through this door.....
Love, Shining Star

Hi Victoria,

I absolutely love your screen name.  I have had the pleasure of meeting your husband and he is amazing.  He is so positive, and so caring.  I hope to get to know you, and sporty better.
I came to this site almost two years ago after I lost my oldest son to a heroin overdose.
To lose a child is the hardest thing a person could ever imagine happening to them.
Because of my loss, I found Heratics of Heroin and another wonderful internet group full of moms who have all lost there children to drug addiction.  We are having our first reunion down in Ga in Sept.
It is so wonderful that you two can share this site together.  My husband thought this site and my moms group was a passing thing, lmao.  The people here are part of my life and so are my sisters on the other site.
I try to share the good and bad with him, he just doesnt understand.  He has no idea what a connection and support people on line can be.  Oh how lucky sporty is to have you here too.  I am so pleased to have the both of you here, and hope to hear from you soon,  Love Loving mom/Karen

Thank you so very much Karen for the beautiful words that were in your post. I want to thank you for all the love and support that you have given to Sporty. I am so thankful that he has found others to help him when I cannot. It is a very good feeling to know that when I have to be at work and he has those feelings to be able to go online and chat with you and others, to give him the support he needs at that particular time. We have been alone in a lot of what we have gone through in the past months but I know how very much I love him and want him to succeed in his dreams of helping others such as himself to overcome hardships, and to know that there is someone out there who really does care. We are all that we have and we must help each other!!! I won't talk to much more now but would love to chat with you sometime. Take care and thank you again for all your love and support to everyone.  Love, Shining Star
