Hi all,
A friend of mine is a nurse at NAOMI, and she speaks really positively about it. Apparently they are having a hard time finding enough clients, I think because they are so careful about the selection process because they want to be sure to "do no harm." Personally, I think this is fantastic, and long over due. Especially because the clients are long time users, who are all residence of the downtown eastside area (skid row), and have all failed at other treatments. (I work a couple of blocks away from the site of the project). It offers some relief for people who otherwise don't have any options. A lot of people are really against this initiative, but I think it's usually lack of information coupled with moralism that fuels this.
Anyways, I'll post if I hear anything more.
