Hi Misty,

I just wanted to write a little hello, and welcome to HOH sit.  I used to post here lots, but things have been really busy lately (school), so I haven't had much chance to check in here.

Congratulations on your year clean!! That is a huge accomplishment. I'm also an ex-junkie, I've been clean 4 1/2 years, and I'm 26. Where I live there are tons of people who have quit dope, and stayed clean for many years. So don't be discouraged, you are not alone (even if it feels that way right now).

Email me directly if you want to chat,
peace,
-Curiosity

Hey there Misty and welcome...I used to attend NA very regular but have strayed away in the last few months. I have been clean about 3 yrs and I found the same problem when I was attending NA here in my area. There was only one other person that had more clean time than me and he was a recovering coke addict. Often times it was difficult especially if I were having a hard time because there wasnt anyone who had been in my certain stages of recovery that I could relate to. Most that attended were new to recovery(less than 3-6 months) and had mostly war stories to share and had a hard time expessing themselves as I did early on and it made for alot of meeting that were lacking in strength and hope experiences...but they also kept things raw enough for me so that it kept me grateful and humble...and even at 3 yrs clean I still felt like a new comer in alot of ways and I really needed to hear from someone that had some respective clean time so I started to hit the AA meetings aswell and I found that even though they were talking of alcohol I could still relate on so many levels and it was comforting to hear someone speak that had 20 or 30 yrs clean time. This group here at HoH is extremely helpful. I have poored out parts of my soul here and I have been met with nothing but understanding, insight and a general feeling of not being alone. Their was always someone willing to offer up some feedback and advice that I have found invaluable.  Give it a chance and maybe try out a few different meetings.  How do you like living in the states so far??? I am looking forward to getting to know you better...hope you post again soon. Take care...Peace Gidkid/Heather

Greetings misty and gidkid, Before I moved back into the city I found myself in the same situation. I lived in a very small community and there wasnt much to choose from as far as meetings and support groups were concerned. I find its to my benefit to live in a larger area where you can find meetings several times a day. Do either of you live in small towns?  I feel thankful that I can come here and get support aswell. There have been many days that it was hard for me to get away and get out to a meeting and I always found it a comfort to come here and read the posts of other. If it happened to be a slow time I would just go back and reread some of the previous posts and always found some inspiration to get me thru. Hang in there ladies...it only takes two people to make a meeting and I'm sure you both have alot to offer.
bless you and goodnite, Kaycee
